The generator is relocated (after months of conversations with Thor/repair shop) Door is vented (as I insisted, and they Thor, acted like this was a unique idea, but seeing all the examples they have already done, this makes them look so very unprofessional. Now, floor vibrates under the bed, and the noise is awful. The generator vents to the activity side of the coach now, so hot pipe, noise and exhaust! Got a message from Thor today that says there is nothing else they can do now that the generator is relocated. Unbelievable. I have in writing that they assured me the noise would be minimal since the generator was already very quiet (never has been, had to have tv very loud to override generator noise when it was under the passenger seat). So much more louder than our cummins in the Fleetwood we had. Bought a new unit to escape the aging of our last one...joke is on us...so much more of a nightmare, dangerous, and unusable unit for 8 months now....ugh.

Absolutely, I am with you on the lawsuit thing. there is no way we can sell our unit now with the new issues created by "thor's" fix...

push pump is working

Finished the auxillary push pump and the wiring is done! Also put some insulation around the fuel line and moved the fuel line to the outside of the frame, therefore away from heat from the engine and transmission.

Ran an on/off switch to the interior of the coach so the pump doesn't run constantly. It will run only when we choose it too.

Taking a trip on wed… We will see what happens! Fingers crossed…

I would like to post some pics but I can't figure out how to do that...

That was the final part to the puzzle for us. As said before, insulating the fuel line, placing a vent door, and finally the push pump. So far so good, we have used it in hot weather without a problem. Let us all know if it works for you.

we dont have the vent door, but i hope this works! If it has for you, im hopeful.

Where did you put the on/off switch for the push pump?

It appears that the push pump fix has been utilized by only a few members here... Anyone having problems after the pump is installed?

I think ours was one of the first installed. The service manager we had at LazyDays in Tucson had used one in 2012 on a Bounder (I think). We weren't there when it was installed and when shown the pump no on/off switch was ever discussed.

What is the push pump for? I read back a bit, but haven't seen what it helps...

The push pump is an auxiliary pump that is placed (for us) slightly in front of the rear tire. The main gas pump for the generator is near the gas tank, due to the heat a vapor lock happens as the gas is going from the tank to the generator. The push pump apparently keeps the vapor lock from occurring. As I said earlier the push pump was the third thing we did - first was insulating the line, second was a vent in the door and finally the push pump. Seems to work so far - fingers crossed for the summer when we will be in the rig the majority of the time.

report

Drove the motorhome 500 miles in the last week. The outside temp never got above 85 degrees and we never used the "push pump" that I installed.

I wanted to see if the genset would shut down... It did not.

The fuel line is wrapped and moved further from the engine and transmission. We will see if the genset shuts down on th next trip to Zion National Park.

Finally installed my push pump. I did the tie in like Randawg did, so there is no switch for mine, its on when the generator is on period. Was not to bad doing the install however took me longer to undo all the Thor crap they had me put on previously (radiator, extra fuel line, etc.) I should not have done such a good job first time, must have had to cut 100+ zip ties, and undress all the routing i did.

Did not do an extended run with it yet, just ran it for 15 minutes in driveway to ensure no problems or leaks.

I am fairly certain that this push pump solves this issue, and sure glad I did not do the relocation like some others have done.
