Newbie to the forum here!!

We are in the process of purchasing a 2015 29.2 and we were wondering if the 2015's still had the generator problems that the earlier years were having? We had generator problems in our 2005 Winnie Aspect and don't want to go through that again...

Check location of the genset. If it is located at the rear of the coach, I'm betting you should not have an issue with overheating. When the genset was located behind left front tire, that's when most problems occurred. I would think (hope) that with the newer coaches, the change has been made.

My 2015 29.2 had generator issues - bad voltage regulator and defective wiring harness. Took Cummins 2 tries to finally fix it under warranty.

+1. Believe Thor changed the genset location on ACE's midway through the 2014 model year, so your 2015 should be rear mounted. Ours went back to the factory to be re-located and I've never had another problem since.

Just verify that the generator isn't in the compartment closest to the engine on the drivers side. Mine was moved to the back and never had an issue since.

2015 29.2 genset is in the back, left corner.

The generator expert installed a vent on the outside door and added another fuel pump close to generator and we have had no more problems. The generator expert said the distance between generator and factory installed fuel pump is too big of distance causing vapor lock with excessive heat. The fix was easier than I expected.

They are having the gen relocated @ CW not sure what compartment they are moving it to guess we will find out. I'll update with photos . Thor relocated the gen to the passenger side of the coach right behind the rear right tire took the coach out last year and really didn't have any problems over heating so I think we can finally put this behind us .
Will know for sure this summer

Thor had to send out a tech to preform the gen relocation. They did it at CW.

Only problem I see with this location is the exhaust and noise close to where you are sitting under the awning area. Plus it's right under the bedroom.

My unit was relocated as well, but I did not like that they ran the exhaust straight out the back. I relocated the exhaust pipe to run across the RV to exist right behind the drivers side rear tire. Only took about an hour. Used a pipe bender to get a new pipe and bend it, no more exhaust near where we would sit outside.

Yes it's a little noisier on the outside, but we can finally hold conversations while driving without having to yell over the noise under the drivers seat. Instead the noise from inside is in the back passenger side in the bedroom. Hums you to sleep if you are laying down while on the road.

I like it further back, finally have a generator that works without overheatitimg!

Hello all. I just wanted to let everyone know in this forum that there were a few things that have happened during the three plus years to correct this issue.

At first we thought this was an issue with the location of the Generator, which may have been part of the problem. After multiple attempts with CW we finally were able to get a plan from Thor to relocate the Generator to the back of the coach. Ironically they played it off as a one off issue, but when the package showed up it had way too detailed plans to be a one off. ;-)

After we relocated the Generator, it still continued to die after about 15 to 20 minutes.

Here is the kicker and one would think totally obvious - Every time we reported this issue to CW we told them this only happens when we run the AC with the Generator. Seems obvious to you the reader doesn't it?

And yes you are correct. There was a problem with the factory installed AC unit that caused the generator to stop working due to the draw from a fault in the AC. Once CW took the time to look into the issue, they say the electrical draw was too high for the generator to handle. They then replaced the AC unit with a new one.

Happily we have not had an issue since. We ran the generator all the way to Florida Ft. Wilderness Campground in June with the AC unit at full power. Generator never missed a beat. Return trip saw the same experience.

So if you are experiencing this issue, that may be an item that you need to look at. Do you have a product that is causing excessive draw?
