Ace toilet issue??

We have a 2017 ACE 27.2, with a problematic toilet. For some reason, about every other "use", it plugs, and air bubble spits back all around the toilet and stays plugged. Thank goodness for a late-evening trip to Dollar General for a plunger. I am beginning to think it is either a design flaw, (with an elbow that blocks up), or something fell in there during construction and is obstructing. We are in our first 3 months, and 5,000 miles. Anybody else having this problem?

Can you run a plumbers snake up or down the line to see if you hit an obstruction? Are you using RV safe tissue, has anybody throw any sanitary products in there?

When we fist got the Bounder we had this issue, did not have it with the previous TT. Turns out my Bounder has a elbow at the bottom of the toilet. If you hold open the flush valve and use a flash light you can see it. Not much we can do about it. Our solution is to use doggy bags for the toilet paper and wet wipes, put it in the bag ty a knot in it and drop it in the trash can.
The spitting back could be a clogged vent pipe. Solution is to remove the vent cap and run a water hose down it and flush it out. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Nothing you can do about the elbow in the drain line but I really doubt that it would cause a problem. My bet is on a plugged or poorly installed roof vent pipe. Either something is plugging that or it is installed too far into the tank.

And use more water! Most RVers don't use enough water when flushing the toilet.

I second using more water. When I had an ACE, our toilet also clogged - I used a coat hanger to break the seal on the clog and it took care of it - I then made sure we used a generous amount of water each time we flushed -- had to remind the wife several times to do a 5 count with the water to be sure. Pretty sure it wasn't a vent problem. We only used the RVing toilet paper and no other products in the toilet and I also got a wand that I used to rinse out below the toilet whenever I dumped the black water.

Horrible design of the tank. In our Ace 30.2 the black tank is shaped like a paint roller pan. The toilet drops pretty much straight down to the shallow end of the pool. Stuff builds up until there is no place to go(which causes the toilet to burp). You pretty much have to fill your tank at least 2/3 full of water before you even use the toilet. I drilled an access hole so I could blast it with water after I empty. Seems to be working great it's just another step you have to do.

I just got used to using at least a slow 5-count when flushing in my ACE. Use plenty of water....

A couple of times I got an "air-lock" that I finally figured out I had to break with a coat hanger before I started using the 5-count.

Water. Use it.

Best,

Dave-oh

I agree with all previous responses here that more water needs to be used for each flush. Our coach has a bath & a 1/2 feature where the one toilet is situated directly over the black water tank. No problems with flushing....ever! The half bath toilet has an elbow at the bottom of the bowl with a lateral waste pipe leading to a second black water tank a distance away. That toilet was prone to blocking exactly as described here before we learned to use lots of water with each flush. Problem solved and that was years ago! More water is certainly the key....... Good luck!!!
