Backup Camera Input Inoperative

We have a 2014 Thor Hurricane 34E and on our most recent trip started with no back-up camera. The cameras on the left and right mirror function correctly. The rear camera shows "no camera input" on the monitor screen. Today in the park in New Mexico I pulled the dash apart and checked things out. To ensure that the monitor was working correctly, I pulled the input cables from cameras 2 and 3 and one at a time, plugged the cables into the camera 1 input of the monitor. Each time it showed the input from the connected camera. That confirms to me that there is no issue with the monitor. I followed the cable for camera 1 under the dash until it hit the firewall. I don't know where to go from there. Has anyone else had an issue with the camera 1 input and have a solution?

You need to determine if the problem is in the cabling or the rear cam itself. Check your connector types and see if you can remove the rear cam from it's mounting and plug it directly into one of the side cams wiring harnesses or even directly into the input lead at the back of the monitor. This will determine bad cable or cam.

I don't have side cameras but my back up camera did the same thing. I checked everything you did and then removed the camera to find out the plug about 2' long came loose. I cleaned it, reconnected and taped it with electical tape. Works fine.

Yes, try checking the connection at the rear camera. Be careful not to let the wiring slip back into the rear cap. Can be a disaster. Have a roll of tape or string along to attach.

Also on our MH not a Thor and much older, the back plate inside the fiberglass cap is only held there by the mounting screws that attach the camera mount. Removing all of them lets the back plate loose. Good thing the wire went through it or it would have fallen right out.

All of that said. Isn't your '14 still under warranty?

Backup Camera

Shellback1 and HD4Mark, we really appreciate the responses. We got back home to heat of Texas yesterday and lots of,fun blacking the Hurricane up into the driveway with no backup camera. I plan to pull the camera off of the rear cap and checking the connection. Since the connector is inside the cap, behind the grommet, I hope that if disconnected, I can reach it with my mechanical fingers and pull it out.

And yes, we are still under warranty. Haven't quite hit a year yet. However, I am more of a hands on person with regards to things like this. If I called for an appointment, took it in and waited for repair it would take about 3 weeks,or more. If I diagnose the issue and go in with a proposed solution and they have the part, they will immediately install it Nd send me on my way. That's more like it.

Good luck, hope it is just the connector.

I am having the same problem with the camera on my right side. There is a small box that all cameras feed into and then it feeds the monitor. I switched the camera 3 connector to camera one and it worked. Put everything back and again camera three would not work. I need to replace the connection box and I am sure all cameras wii work. In mine the box is about 3" by 3". Follow the cable from behind the monitor and you should see the control box.

Backup Camera Fixed

We removed the backup camera and carefully pulled the cable out of the fiberglass cap. Disconnected it and then reconnected to the Camera 2 (driver's side mirror) input. The backup, camera didn't work. I contacted MHSRV and explained situation. They suggested I contact ASA and discuss with them. Lonnie at ASA said they had some give on the warranty (we were at 1 year and about 10 days). He said go to MHSRV and let them know an exchange was ok. MHSRV had one I stock and we made the switch. I installed and it is all functioning again. 30 minutes of phone calls, 15 minutes driving time, 15 minutes installation and checkout. Total 1 hour for repair..
