Backup camera power
Hello
I am new to the forum. I looking to see if there is a power wire from the backup camera on a F53 to the radio when the camera was installed.
I have a 2017 Thor Ace 30.1.
I am not able to power the camera to see behind me while I am towing my Ford Ranger. It only comes on when in reverse. Car toys put in a new radio unit when I bought the RV.
Thanks

I normally power the camera from a splice into the running lights. Like the three top center lights on the backend. Presently it is tied into the reverse system.

Thor puts hardwired backup cameras in their Class A's so I am sure there would be a wire running from the camera to the dash.

Don't know if this will help, but we have a 2018 ACE 30.3 with original unit. To turn on our backup, there is a touch screen button that enables it. This would tell me that there is a wire running to the unit.
Ours also comes on automatically when put in reverse.
We'd love a new unit - can you share what you replaced it with?

Does the screen switch automatically to the appropriate side when the turn signals are activated?
If not, Car Toys may not have installed the head correctly or the new head is incapable of accepting input from the camera switching module.
The cables from the three cameras run to the switching module and the output from the switching module runs to the dash head display. The switching module determines which camera is displayed (or should). Default camera is the rear, turn signal activation switches display to appropriate side.
Car toy may have bypassed the switching module and sent the rear camera to the head activated by a trigger wire. It is possible the switching module is defective/disconnected. I replaced the head in my 2016 recently, took a bit of searching/changing connections to get it to display the way I wanted.
