Challenger tow specs changed?

When did the Thor Challenger tow specs change from 5k to 8k and what did they do to increase the capacity?

Thanx - Dean

They changed the hitch model from a 5k to an 8k rated one but you canít tow 8k as you would exceed the CGWR of any of the models with that hitch. Itís a marketing stunt.

I suspect since the chassis the Challenger is built on has a maximum tow capacity of 6K by installing a 8K receiver Thor is attempting to give owners access to the 1000 lbs. that a 5K receiver can't. The elephant in the corner that too many owners can't seem to see is what Ford, not Thor or the hitch manufacture, determines as the maximum tow capacity of the chassis. Unfortunately too many owners will see a 8K receiver and think that is the coach limit.

A bit like the towing and load capacity advertising battles for pick ups and the missing details.

See page 84 of the attached PDF for weight limits.
