Undercarriages, that is... found used 2004, 2006, and 2007 Hurricanes parked on a dealers lot in Southern California today, so I crawled under them... got some photos, and discovered some big differences in the way they are built from one model year to the next. They all look alike on the outside, but underneath, a different story! Check it out at RVFactor

I suggest you sell the MH and buy one that you will be happy with. I would not be bothered owning anything that causes so much grief in my life.

Skrams, I see you own the 34B Hurricane...a good coach, you have a 228" wheelbase and a wheelbase ratio of almost 54%... I cannot say enough good about your motorhome. It should handle well, you should have good weight distribution with a slide on each side in the rear, maybe a little heavy on the drivers side. Not sure what your carrying capacity is, but all in all you made a good choice. You should be happy with your coach.

I am not chewing on Four Winds for any reason except that they ignore some basic stuff when they build some of their coaches. All I am doing is bringing information to the RV consumer so they can make an informed decision. Why don't you tell us what you like about your coach?

Yes I am very happy with my Hurricane 34B. This being our first MH and the fact that we are a young family with two kids, we are extremely thankful that we can enjoy a toy of this nature while we are young.

We liked the Hurricane 34B because of a lot of things, 3 slides in a bunkhouse, more than adequate basement storage, wood doors separating bedrooms from living areas, smooth ride etc... but most of all the price. For what I paid for this rig brand spanking new i believe I got a lot of MH. Granted, it is not a high end unit, and I never try to let anyone believe that it is, but it is nicer than a lot of peoples homes.

I am sure that it has its short comings and inadequacies but we do a two week trip and a one week trip in the summer, a two week trip at Christmas and numerous weekend trips from April to October. We are not fulltimers (I wish I was) so the MH does not have to stand up to the constant use that would require.

I see a lot of bickering on the various sites about Winnebago being better than Damon or whatever and Ford being better than WH and vica versa. It is all a little tedious for me. I am happy with what I have and believe me when I am not you lot on the boards will hear me complain.

Thanks, George...and yes, I did...and my guess is that he won't reply. I have been posting my blog on a couple investment forum sites, so that may work...the hardest part of what I am doing is to get them to respond... when they do, then stuff starts to happen. I went thru this with Fleetwood several years ago. Took them 2 years to respond. But when they did, they fixed several hundred motorhomes.

Skrams, I appreciate your response. Your last sentence was a little garbled, but you expressed yourself well. I do not own a Hurricane, but I was "shopping" for one for one of my adult kids when I discovered the issues with some of the Hurricanes. I have owned 4 motorhomes, including 2 diesel pushers. My first coach was a 1996 Fleetwood Southwind Storm. I paid $45,000 cash for it, and loved it. Since that time, I have seen the RV industry turn their products into trash...I am simply trying to reverse that trend, because I have 11 grandchildren that I know will spend a greater portion of their adult life doing what we enjoy most..."RVing." I am soon to be 65 years of age, and Audrey and I have "almost" full timed it for a decade. I promise you, you will enjoy it when that day comes. I am glad you posted tonight, because it is you that has inspired many of us to "encourage" the industry to make a safer coach. I have been an investigator for 38 years, and have really enjoyed the Four Winds issues, because they have provided so many resources for me to research.

If you ever get to Branson, MO, I hope you will look us up.

Thanks, Frankie....I'll take your advice. I see RV.net pulled the thread. I guess there must be some issues out there we just can't discuss. I will like you know what Thor says in a PM to see if we can put out a thread on it.
