Cover for our 27.1 ACE

I am struggling with conversations read on this forum concerning covers. We can't afford a building now and yet realize how important covering is. I have been researching a model that offers 5 year UV Warranty protection. I know these covers can be a hassle and may not last as long, but even if I only got 3-4 years, still seems more affordable than the 5K quoted on a building. Seems many folks on this forum feel the covers are not worth the price and hassle. We are in Olympia, WA. Any input appreciated.

I agree this is a controversial discussion. I have always covered our MH and trailer before that, usually with the Adco brand of cover. I live in the Denver region where the sun is intense, the wind can howl and we either have no snow or 3 feet. I usually get three years out of a cover, but my well-waxed MH still looks new.

Not on a Thor, but we use ADCO covers, too. First year it looks great. Second year you will have some small holes that need repaired, and maybe a small rip, or two. Third time that you put it on you will have longer tears to fix (some horizontal, some vertical). You will prolly need to reattach a couple of the straps, too.

The maintenance is easy. We drape it over a picnic table and just glue the holes and rips shut. If that is not possible, we sacrifice the storage bag that it comes with, and glue a patch over the hole.

I've never used one more than three seasons. So my cost is less than $100/season, subject to local sales and promotions. If you can get five years out of one, that would be great!!!

I guess I need to add that most of my ADCO holes are on the roof part of the cover (lots of sharp corners up there). I laid some old carpet pieces up there one year to try and protect the cover, but the winter winds just moved them around and I still ended up with holes.

I drive by a storage lot about once a week and sitting there, in the weather, is a (almost new) $750K + DP. Actually, there are a large number of RV parked there out in the weather I guess some people just don't care?
