Entry Door Retainer

2016 Tuscany 45AT has a heavy entry door with a lightweight single door retainer, which is supposed to hold its open position from the wind. The slightest wind causes this door retainer to over extend and actually pull the fasteners from the door jam of the coach allowing the door to fully open as the retainer is pulled from the door jam itself. I am looking for an alternative to the door retainer as designed, something that actually holds the door open and withstands moderate wind besides a door hinge swing arm assembly or current door hinge retainer. Looking for some creativity to solve this problem...

A solution used by many on various coaches. A search for entry door strut or several variations will get you more pics/descriptions from other folks too.

I had same problem on our Venetian. Did some research and found that many of the metal arms were problematic. To the point there were a couple of companies who's sole business is to rebuild them. Apparently they can lock you out of your coach. For that reason, I just bought some 1" nylon webbing and some stainless screws and made my own strap that limits how far the door can open. I mounted it on the top of the door and to the inside of the door opening on the coach. It rubs a little on the weather stripping but no problem. I have had to replace it once due to wearing thin from all the closings, so I would go ahead and buy enough 1" webbing to make 3-4 and keep them on hand. Go ahead and cut out the holes for the screws and melt the loose threads with a match/lighter and when you need to replace one, it will take about 60 seconds.
