Fresh water tank fill

I hope that I'm not about to embarrass myself, but I have an issue with filling my freshwater tank on my 2018 Thor Windsport. The owner's manual states that a valve has to be opened to allow filling. The only valve I see in the basement under the tank is for draining. I had to open the valves concealed under the sink when the dealer forgot to open them after the winter close up. Surely those are not the valves the manual is talking about. I can put water in, but I have to basically let it seep in as the back pressure from air pushes it back. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks in advance.

Not sure WHich Model you have but there are 2 methods to fill fresh water tank

Gravity Fill...remove cap and use potable hose to fill tank
Fill Position in Water bay,,,,connect potable water hose, turn lever from City Water to FILL position

Fresh water tank fill

I have the gravity fill. It seems as though the lack of air displacement is what is giving me grief. The manual mentions a valve but I have not found one.

The valve....
Seems there is one installed on the fresh water tank Overflow Line that is to be opened when filling and then closed afterwards to prevent siphoning thru overflow line
*should be in drivers side bay where you can see fresh water tank, wet bay etc
**may not be a valve but a cap on end of line

I will look for that. Our water fill is on the passenger side but perhaps the valve is not near the tank itself. Thanks

Does your gravity fill have a smaller port next to it with a screen or cap on it? Something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-A01-...22&sr=8-5&th=1

If it does then remove the cap when filling. If just a screen then your vent line may be clogged or kinked. What floor plan Windsport do you have?

Where is your water tank located, under bed, in storage bay, etc.?

Fresh water fill for Thor

May be way off base but try opening the cold water facet by the sinkÖ

Sorry for the late reply, been on the road. It is located on the passenger side and has the small vent next to the fill port. If it is clogged, how would one know and if so, how would you unclog it? Thanks so much

Your fill is on the passenger side, the tank itself should be near the fill port. Locate the tank, (like under the bed), may have an access panel covering it if under the bed. Tank may be in a cargo bay under the fill port. Once you can see the tank, look for the vent line that runs to the fill port. It may have a valve in the line that needs to be opened when filling.

On my ACE the vent line became clogged (with mold?) I had to replace it. None of my Thors have had a valve on the vent line or fill line, but they were 2015,2016 models. My 2016 Miramar needed the wet bay valve replaced as the handle would turn but the valving behind the front panel was not turning.

If you can fill your tank via the city water connection and wet bay valving, then I would guess that your fresh tank vent line is not kinked or clogged.

The problem may be that your water hose does not go far enough into the tank fill port and is splashing back. A nozzle may help that.

Something like this:

I have figured my problem out. There is a kink in the vent hose for the water fill. I am going to take the neoprene tube out and replace it with a longer piece which I hope will solve the issue. Thanks so much for all of the advice. This is a wonderful forum with a ton of helpful folks!
