MPG question for Thor ACE owners
We looked at a 29.2 ACE this weekend and really liked it. We would be moving up from a Sprinter based Class C if we were to buy it. I expect to be spending more on fuel but just not sure how much more. The dealer claims 10 mpg or better for the ACE. What is the real world mileage for these coaches? Thanks.

I am only getting about 8 MPG and that is not towing anything. I would doubt that you could do much better than 10 MPG at the very best.

I traveled from Pensacola to Seattle. If you use a grade higher than the lowest regular, you can expect 8.5 without a headwind and without climbing mountains, fully loaded and no towing (toad). MPG at high speeds, greater than 70 will eat gas too.
I wanted a Sprinter for the economy, but love the ACE for its size.

I agree the size is great nd very easy to get in and out of places too. I too get between 7.5 and 8.5. Depending on how fast I'm going.

Mileage claims are always an eye-brow raiser. I usually score like ice skating competitions. I throw out the high and the low and average the rest.

Gas Mileage
I have a 2012 Thor ACE 29.1, and I get around 8 MPG. I tow a Honda CRV behind, but the mileage is probably around the same with/without.

You might be surprised on difference. I tow a Honda CR-V behind my 2007 35' Sunova. It costs me about a 1 - 1.5 mpg in fuel mileage depending on terrain when towing.

We have a 2012 ACE 29.1... Acquired in September 2011 ... Limited use to date, but so far the mileage is about 8 to 8.5 with a Mini Cooper on tow dolly on the interstate... Less on state/county roads with tow ... Without tow, the best has been 9.1 on the interstate...

ACE Mileage
There's no reason to expect the ACE to do any better than the rest of the F53 Chassis motor homes. Same weight, about the same frontal area and no apparent effort to streamline it. Most of us get 8 mpg average with an occasional happy day at 9 mpg.
That being said, I was impressed with the ACE. Good floor plan, lots of storage inside and out. It's one of the few 30 ft. class A's I've seen with that much storage and an intelligent floor plan.

Just got back from a trip where we put over 5,000 miles on the rig. We averaged 7.2 mpg for the entire trip. I drove about 65 MPH and had a toad.

Medium grade gas puts me at 1 mpg better that your 7.2 mps (near my normal is 7.5 with low grade regular).

7.5 average over 9,000 miles with a Honda Fit toad. Usually cruise at 55.
