New Outlaw 38KB purchase

Hello everyone, We just purchased a 2021 Outlaw 38KB from a private seller. We are seasoned RV'ers owning 7 previous RV's over the years. Everything from pop-up's, travel trailers, 5th wheels to 45' Entegra DP. We sold the Entegra DP a few years back due to some life changes. We are now back into RV'ing. BTW, The Entegra was the best RV we owned and hated to part with it. Just by coincidence we sold it the same day Thor bought Entegra. With the rising cost of RV's and the current need for a "toy hauler" model we decided the Outlaw was or best option for now. We ruled out the Canyon Star due to the rear deck not being flat.

No need to bash our decision on purchasing a Thor Outlaw. Being seasoned RV'ers we know every RV has "issues" and most of them we will fix ourselves. Sad, but that is just the way the RV industry is. I have always said, if Toyota or Honda was to make an RV it may cause a quality revolution in the RV industry.

Anyway, looking forward to hitting the road again and meeting people along the way.

Congrats on the Outlaw, love the red stripes. You are correct, it is great to have the flat ramp for the rear deck.
So what type of cargo do you need the garage for?

Actually we need the garage area because it provides "two bedroom" areas. Our parents have reached that point in life where they have had to part with their RV's due to health reasons and not feeling safe to drive. We still want to allow them to enjoy the RV life for as long as we can provide that for them. This appears to be the best motorhome solution currently available. The toyhauler also provides an easy way to bring a golf cart in the future when needed.

Newmar's curved ramp makes some sense for loading, however, the ramp angle can be improved by raising the front of the motorhome allowing less incline. In fact Thor has a video on how to use your Outlaw where they suggest doing this. It is also possible, although probably not as feasible, to change the ramp incline by loading in a different location where the earth terrain decreases the incline. We wanted the flat deck to allow them to enjoy the outdoors without the need to navigate the steep steps of an RV many times a day. Many of you will understand that.

Kudos to you for your commitment to your parents.

Yes, Newmar attempted to solve the ramp approach angle problem by placing an angle in the ramp door. This has 2 disadvantages. One is that now the ramp is not flat and not very usable as a patio. The other is when the door is closed, the angle bulge protrudes into the garage space, which effectively decreases the garage carrying capacity, a big problem if you have a long toy.

Thor has a much better solution to this by incorporating the loading angle into the garage floor itself, which leaves the door ramp flat. This is a much better design solution. The angle is not perfect for every vehicle, but I have loaded 6 different vehicle types into my Outlaw garage without any problems clearing the OEM approach angle.
