New to iRV2

Hello everyone, I have just joined iRV2. I have been RVing for 40 years and love it. Started out camping in tents, moved up to travel trailer, eventually up to motorhome. I am now the owner of a 2014 Tuscany 45LT and have had several issues dealer and mfgs have not been able to resolve. So I am looking to other owners for their help. I have resolved some issues on my own and only a few remain. My biggest one left is water in bedroom floor after driving in the rain. It also allows black soot in from around the bottom of the rear wall and over the shower near ceiling. I have crawled all around looking for apparent openings but to no avail. The slide in the bedroom seems to seal well also. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks, and I look forward to being a participant in the forums.

Hi Water,

Welcome to the Forum!

At the top of the page is an "Owner's Forum". You will probably find your answer in there. Best of luck.

Black soot or mold? Sounds like water issues around seams. Was not winterized correctly and pipes are leaking (just a thought)

Have you had this issue from the time you purchased it? If not, when did you first notice it? Does the soot appear at the same time as the water when driving in the rain or does the soot appear after setting still?

One way to check for external leaks is with a hose. Go on roof and try to run water on one side then slowly work your way across. Waiting a few minutes between hose movements to allow water to show up in bath.

Stopping the water leak may solve both problems.

If you are somewhere close to Indiana I would recommend calling and making an appointment with the Thor Service Center in Wakarusa, IN. They can help you best with your issues. The number is (877) 855-2867.

Good Luck,
Gary

Thanks for all the replies. We do not have any issue with the motorhome setup with the slides out and in pouring rain. We've stayed several nights and no problems. What happens is we drive in rain all day, park in a rv park, setup, mop up all the water. Even with it raining all night, the next morning everything is dry. The soot buildup is minimal but worries me about possibly having fumes in the coach during driving time. so its only with the slides pulled in. I wash it by hand and it have sprayed outside with high pressure. so i am at a loss for any thing else to try. Thanks everyone!!

Maybe an exhaust pipe issue.
Please post what you find, may help some one else.
Good hunting!

I'm assuming being a 45' it's a diesel so you aren't seeing soot (go look at your exhaust pipe!) I bet it is road grime. I would focus on the wheel wells first as most likely water is being splashed up into a crack/seam. Next time you drive in the rain it may be beneficial to lay some towels or something down and after 30 min or so go and check to see where the water is getting in...if you can narrow down the source fixing it will be simpler.

Good point about the soot, its a dp and we use def, so probably road grime. I have looked at the wheel wells and can't see any openings. But its coming home from shop next week. Will take another look. Thanks everyone!!

There have been some posts about a few Palazzos having a soot problem in the bedroom. I believe it was resolved by having the dealer or Thor seal around the corners on the underside. It stopped most of them from having this problem again. I don't think that they said specifically where or what areas were resealed.

Hi, everyone, just thought i would let everyone know my latest effort. My son noticed that the rear slide was not closing all the way, we could put our fingers thru the seal and feel cold air. So this could be where the rain water is coming in. Also we run the aqua hot furnace while we were driving and the exhaust for the unit is in front of the slide. Could this explain the soot? The motorhome is at the dealers now getting the slide looked at. Will keep you posted. Thanks
