Over Night Stays

I am new to motor home traveling.
When taking a longer trip and you just want to pull over and spend the night are there places other than State Park and camp grounds?

There is an app called rvovernight that lists places you can stay for just a night (wal-mart, Home Depot, and other large retailers). We camped at 3 different wal-marts on a summer trip in Colorado. And the Albertsons in Prescott, AZ was kind enough to let us stay in their lot one night.

Walmart. They are everywhere, and their general corporate policy is to welcome RVers for one night stands, subect to some limitations. Some stores are not allowing us due to local regulations or other factors. Always ask the store manger or assistant first. I usually phone them to ask before I get there. Be sure to read the "rules" at Walmart Atlas | Directory of Walmart stores nationwide

Rest areas along the way as well. Walmarts have been great, just buy a little someone from them. Also Cracker Barrel. Just have breakfast there when you get up.

Some states, Texas is one, allow overnight parking in rest areas.
Here's a link to free or low cost RV Parking. Free Campgrounds for RVs

All states allow you to sleep for a few hours at a rest stop. You're just not supposed to set up camp, (slides, chairs, awning, grill), and stay overnight.

That being said, rest stop RVer's are very easy targets for thieves. Especially, if they observe that you have been sleeping.

Casinos are another business that will, in many cases, allow overnight RV parking. Here's a resource to find them.
