Radio finally kicked it.

I was wondering how long this 'top of the line' Jensen head unit would work.
Well, it just died this morning.
The radio plays, but the screen is blank and none of the buttons work.

I have the Good Sam extended warranty which should have me covered.

What is the new head unit in the ACE's? Please don't tell me it's just a newer version of what I have. That thing is awful!

You might have thought that Jensen was an obscure, nearly generic, bottom shelf brand. Don't get too excited for the replacement.

Why bother working with and using a well known mobile sound system supplier like Pioneer, Alpine, Blaupunkt, Kenwood, or even Sony, to equip your motorhome, when you can have Axxera!!!!!

Believe it!! The replacement for Jensen is the even more obscure, unknown, and lame functioning Axxera brand!

The Axxera V614BH!!

The hardest thing will be to find something that has the camera inputs you need. I would call Crutchfield to see what they have, they are always a good source of information.

Despite having a Good Sam extended warranty which covered full replacement I decided to scrap the unit and replace with a Clarion VX405 on my own dime.

Best decision I ever made. I checked into replacement units and there was nothing worthwhile imo that was being offered.

I spoke to my local audio tech and he recommended the Clarion for a $300 replacement. The new radio is tremendously better than the Jensen or that other oddly named unit that was being offered.

The touch controls work perfectly and effectively. The Bluetooth works quickly and properly as does the Pandora connectivity. I made a call driving home and both sound in and out was good.

I only have the rear camera hooked up at this time. I know the turn signals can be linked with a switch but didn't get into all that. To be honest in the past when switching lanes I was always looking into the side convex mirrors anyway. To look into the mirrors, to the radio/monitor, and then back to the mirrors before making a lane change was a bit too distracting. I prefer to keep the rear camera on at all times when driving so I can monitor what is being towed behind. So I doubt I will bother with the turn signal cameras. If anything maybe one day I will hook a monitor to both cameras and have them displayed at all times for a true 180 degree perspective.

Would I have replaced the 'Thor offering' with a $1000 head unit, no. But at $300 it was well worth the small investment and opting out of the warranty coverage.

I found the side cameras to be usefull mainly when backing into a tight spaces. Use mirrors when changing lanes. The mirrors are very good.
