At this point in time, I would still buy a Redwood and don’t mind recommending them to others, the product issues I have had are minor. The only real disappointing part has been getting the proper paperwork from the dealer, they seem to be a bit like Sgt Shultz from the old TV show, "they see nothing and know nothing" once the sales finished. Just ask to review the owner’s manual and the 2+5 warranty details before you complete your purchase. I think most of the issues can be attributed to them being only 18 months old as a manufacturing company and improperly trained sales distributers.

Good Luck!

We couldn't find anywhere in the brochure saying that it was heated, only that heat pads added to the water pipes?
According the schematics I received from Redwood the basement is heated from the furnace as the tanks are located directly under the kitchen and bathroom, But I do not see any specs on heating blankets in the electrical systems diags. maybe that is a winter package upgrade that I was not offered or it is just not called out on my copies. The built in storage holder for the drain line is a nice feature in that it holds the line and reduces the amount of handling you must do with it...it is located directly under the release valves on the 36FL.

Cheers,
~Gary

Even though we have had some issues with our Redwood, it is nothing compared to our $500,000+ MSRP Monaco Executive. I would just try to find out as much as I could about how good the dealer is on follow-up from current customers and then find the floor plan I like best and go with it.

Brian from Redwood mailed me an Owners Guide that covers all the basic systems and instructions and has a few pages on the warranty details. It was not in my original package of documentation in the unit but should suffice. It is a generic guide for all their units not specific to the 36FL only.

Happy Holidays,
~Gary

Gary,

How did your weights turn out? Fairly balanced load or?

Trailer Weight

Here you go Dave, let me know if you need more info.

Safe travels

I also had the trailer and truck professionally weighed to see how it compares to the specs and it was right on with the data plates in the unit, empty weight from the factory with all the accessories I got and 1/3 fresh water in the tank was 13,900lbs my max with cargo is 16,000lbs. Each tire weight was holding 3000lbs evenly with only an extra 150lbs under the refrigerator side; the Pin weight was at about 3200lbs on the truck.

Lastly the truck pulled the trailer very well, almost no movement from the trailer and hardly any swaying in the winds and rain. I traveled between 55-70mph sometimes and it was great. My sweet spot seems to be at 60mph and I can maintain 10mpg, at 70 it reduces to 8.8mpg.

Real world weights

We had our 36 FB weighed by SKPs November 30. Results were:

Truck front axle with trailer-5210 lbs.-rated at 6000.
Rear Axle with trailer-7230-rated at 9750
Kingpin weight 3360-22.2% of trailer weight
Total trailer weight 15,150-rated at 16000
Trailer axle weights-F 6070, R 5720 rated at 6000 each
The only issue to resolve is tires on driver’s side weight is 70 pounds each over manufacturer’s rating of 3130. Have to increase pressure to 80 pounds and reprogram TPMS. Emailed factory for instructions but so far, no reply.

Does anyone have instructions?

The above weights are with empty holding tanks, ˝ fresh water and full propane plus all the gear and clothes we have needed for the past three months.

I just wanted to state that I have had a few minor issues with my 36rl and that Brian at Redwood responded right away to my questions and had solutions. I do not think all rv companys would bend over backwards to solve your proublems like they have. Great product and great people

My appologies to Brian Emmons for calling him "useless" or "worthless", he has now contacted me and will be forwarding a copy of the manual for our perusal. He advised me he was not trying to ignore me, but he could not find me to email me earlier, as he had misplaced my email and was looking for my iRV2 name of MariannRobin, not my real name under which I was actually in his system. Sorry, Brian.
