Should chassis battery charge when coach is plugged in.

Anyone know if on a 2016 Miramar 34.2, should chassis battery charge be maintained when the coach is plugged in?

My previous 2015 ACE 29.3 would charge the chassis battery when plugged in via a BIRD module.

The chassis battery on my current Miramar drains if left for long period of time even though plugged in. Coach batteries are fully maintained. Have not been able to locate a BIRD or similar device on this new to me coach.

I havs seen posts on here that say some model RV's need seperate trickle charger when in storage.

Does the engine charge the house battery, while underway ?

Does holding the boost start switch cause the chassis battery voltage to rise up to the house voltage ?

Are the house batteries charging above 13.4 volts ?

If yes to the 3 questions, you may not have Bi-directional charging.

My chassis batteries do not charge when plugged in, so, when parked for extended periods, I install jumpers from the house to the chassis.

I installed an amp-l-start so I know mine is charging when the house batteries are charging.

I have 2015 Ace 30.2. While on shore power it was not charging. I check the wires and the Breaker by the house battery was triped. Hope it charges now.

Thanks for the input and tips everyone. Finally got around to checking this out further. A side bennefit of the Corona lockdown, having lots of time on my throughly washed hands.

The 2016 Miramar does have an Intellitec Bird module in the battery compartment. Found the Bird to be operating properly and the Trombetta solenoid to be actuating but failing to make contact.

$23 on Amazon and all is good. All's well that ends well.

Ready to burn some rubber (well maybe gas not rubber) when the lockdown ends. Want to do my part to stimulate the economy.
