Shower issue in 2013 Thor Tuscany XTE

I have a 2013 Thor Tuscany XTE. There is a 1/2 inch gap between the back wall of the rv and the shower stall. The gap goes the entire length of the back of the shower. It looks like the area was never calked.

Im trying to determine if I need to fill the 1/2 inch gap then calk it. Or was this purposely left this way to allow air flow around the shower.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Does the gap run the whole width of the shower? If so, I’d fill it in with a sheet of styrofoam or something similar.,

Edit: I’d also determine if the gap was there by design or is a result of a even bigger underlying problem.
