I'm sorry. I meant if one drops their canopy so it has more of a slope to allow rain to run off. Does one then need to push it back up to maximum height prior to closing for storage?
Obviously this only applies to adjustable canopies.

Come to think of it, the actual procedure is the opposite of my old manual Carefree.
One would pull it out and then extend it up and into the air.
The powered canopies go out at full extension and one must then manually drop it if they want additional slope.

No, you can retract the awning with the adjustable arms in any position.

Just reading up and glad others have the same concerns about pitch. I adjusted mine or rain but also the 2014 I have has the 'give-away' feature so if it gets heavy the awning gives and depresses a bit.

My problem is no matter how many joints I lube up...the awning makes a horrible jerky motion to open and close. Mostly when close to fully extended. It's terrible and an awful sound. Non idea what to do. So much lube and it doesn't help.

Mine still won't retract on its own. It goes out fine. But needs help to come back. I am hoping it will loosen up with time.

Awning Pitch Resolution

I had to be shown how to adjust the pitch on the awning of my A.C.E. 29.2. With the awning extended only about a foot or so, depress the spring loaded button and PUSH the lower slide arm up into the upper slide arm. I had been trying to move the upper (outer) slide arm down over the lower arm which meant I was pushing against the gas cylinder, a near impossible task. Spraying the slide arm with a lubricant of some sort would make the job a little easier as the arms fit very snugly with each other.

Setting the pitch to the next to last hole puts the awning down to provide adequate drainage as well as shade in the morning or late afternoon.

The awning will retract properly regardless of the pitch setting.

i adjusted mine down a bunch too...much better run off...and i finally fixed the creaking and jerky retraction...lubed up the gas struts...after fully extended...lubed them up and ran in and out a few times and bang...it is silent as can be expected now. That creaking and crap was driving me nuts.
