Thor Axis/Vegas OWNERS driving impressions

I’ve always loved the size and floor plans of these models and we have considered purchasing a 25.7 but wondered how they handle the road with the smaller tires compared to a conventional A or C class motor home under 30 feet.
Can any past or current owners respond please. TIA.

I have a 2021 Axis 24.1 with the new Ford V8 and some Ford upgrades to the suspension. Completely stock. I find that it handles pretty well- not much affect from passing 18 wheelers and good return to center force on the steering (as long as the alignment is 5+ degrees of caster).

The ride isn't so great and that is probably due to the 16" tires pumped up to 75 psi (Thor's spec for the fronts) which doesn't have much sidewall give to deal with pot holes and sharp bumps.

Hello, we've owned our Vegas 24.1 for 3 years now. The ease of drivability and handling are the biggest reason we bought the Vegas. I haven't noticed any problems with the smaller wheel size. It drives much better than our Hurricane did and it had 19" wheels.

With it's small size and weight, we compare the driving feel to our full size Suburban. The size and weight also contribute to averaging no less than 12 mpg with the V10 engine when not towing. Usually it's around 15 mpg at 65 mph. (Everyone's results will vary). Our Vegas is based on the Ford E350 chassis which is a proven vehicle for ambulances, shuttle buses, work trucks etc.

I bought my 2017 Axis in 2018. It has oversize antisway bars and had front sumo springs. I remover the sumos to mellow out the ride. I had a wheel alignment to get close to 5° caster.

We travel 6 months a year in it and have no issues with handling. One hand steering and very little push from passing trucks.

We dolly towed a Honda Ridgeline 4 door pickup for 3 of those years. It tows great.

At 6 years and 40,000 miles, we replaced the tires for a lot less then F53 class A tires. Other then oil and grease, the chassis has been trouble free.
The house, like any RV always needs some little thing fixed.

We have the Roadmaster HD Sway bars front and rear as well as the Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer. The number 1 best thing we’ve done is to add the SuperSteer rear track bar. We tow our Jeep Wrangler 4 door and are no longer pushed around by passing Semi’s…

I'm actually quite impressed with the stock 2019 Vegas on the highway. Handles the wind better than my old Class B and barely feel the transports passing by. I love it!!

We had a 2018 24.1 on an E450. It drove sooooo much better than our 24ft Winnebago class C on an E350 out of the box. Dampening the noise levels so we could hear the radio was the bigger challenge.
