Thor Diesel Club Fall International Rally

I'm hoping this is an ok place to ask this if not please move to proper place or delete my request.

Being newer to the Thor Diesel Coach life we have joined the Thor Diesel Club and are very interested in attending the Oct Rally in Goshen, Indiana.

Have a few questions for the more experienced people on this form who travel these distances on a more regular basis or have had the opportunity to attended the Thor rally's.

Travel time:
Google maps says it would be close to 1100 miles and 21 plus hrs. All of the trips we've taken have been 300 to 350 relax a day or two then another 300 to 350. We always plan on the average of 50 miles per hr for travel time as we like seeing this country from the right hand lane. Wondering if doing 300 per day for 4 days straight works for others or should we plan on a day stay over in the middle somewhere? To help answer possible questions asked our Age or Health is not a problem and we like to travel highways and not the freeway when possible. In addition if we were in our car we would drive 8 to 10 hrs. We just don't want to get there and feel beat up from the trip and not sure if people feel this after 4 straight days.

Location:
As you can see from our signature picture we travel a lot in the SE so this area of the country will be new to us in a coach. Being it will be October 2-7 should we be doing or taking anything special for weather conditions for the coach? Looking at the average in Oct in the area it's in the 60 day high 30 night which does not seem to be a problem. Knowing know one can predict the weather our question is should we have something special with us just in case of colder weather for the coach?

Indiana:
Again since this part of the country will be new to us in a coach and we will have our toad, what in the area should we make it a point to see in the area?

We are looking forward to the factory tour and the educational opportunities the rally says it will provide.

Our return trip will be coming back through Tennessee where we hope to spend the remainder of the month exploring Nashville then down to Chattanooga, wanting to be there just in time for the fall colors if Mother Nature complies.

Safe Travels to All. :wavey

We try to limit our travels to about 5 to 6 hours a day. There is a RV museum in Elkhart that is interesting and worth going to. You can do that while you are at the rally. Looking forward to seeing you there!

If you are planning a trip to Goshen, and if you have time you may want to also attend the IRV2 International Rally being held at the Elkhart Campground Sept 11th to the 18th. I would recommend you go to the forum section and look up the rally and see all the activities and entertainment being offered. It's a fun filled rally also with seminars. Come join us.

Also you will be in Indiana Amish country. We like to travel a few miles east to Shipshiwanna and shop in the market there. Yoder's Meat and Cheese is always on our itinerary and there are good Amish bakeries. The flea market there may or may not be open that late in the year. This will be our third rally in Goshen with the Thor TDC and they have become a highlight for us.

One of the key items of the rally is the support from Thor for items that need fixing on the coach. If out of warranty they will handle 2 or possibly three short term items with techs from their service center. There is no charge for the labor, only for parts. There are also vendors at this rally that provide seminars on their items as well as support from some of Thor's suppliers including Lippert.

Hope to meet you at the rally.

I'm just making a wild guess – but I'd expect quite a few sales pushes for the new Jayco/Entegra line that Thor just purchased...

Thanks for some additional information, I will check into the museum was not aware of this, will also have to google the Indiana Amish country to see what we can find on it, we did not even think of this being that part of the country.

We will be looking forward to the vendors and training provided. Right now we don't have any warranty issues coach has been great! We will be needing generator service so might be able to get this done and save a few bucks.

We have our application ready and will be in the mail Tuesday, look forward to see everyone there!

We're easy to find our duraflap says RDFTravelers on it.

Safe Travels to All.

Very glad to hear all is going well with your coach. If you haven't noticed, there is a separate sub-forum just for Palazzo that has a great deal of information about your specific coach. Most of us on the Palazzo forum don't generally hit the main Thor forum, as specific information on your coach is so valuable. Join us on the Palazzo forum. You will probably see that Thor has implemented quite a few of the specific improvements on your coach that some of us have struggled to add in the past.
