Thor DP DEF tank mod
Lots of complaints on how hard it is to put DEF in because of poor placement of the tank. Here is a easy fix, the gasket around the door is just a friction fit, peal it back, trim the bulkhead back a bit and reinstall the gasket. this is on a 2018 Aria model 3901

'Necessity IS the mother of invention'
Nice & simple solution!!!!!
To bad 'engineers' haven't a clue about day to day usage.
Your MOD should be just a routine part of MFG.
Patent it...then inform MFG of simple change

Thanks! I considered having my tank lowered but this keeps it higher. How did you trim the opening?

4 inch angle grinder with cutoff wheel. Metal to thick for snips. Feel how high you can trim by what is behind the bulkhead. I think it was over a inch. You need to leave enough of a lip to reinstall the gasket.

Great idea. Our Tuscany is similar--kind of a pain to keep the nozzle at the right angle to fill DEF. Trimming an inch off the top of ours would make filling it much easier. I'll be sure to use a thick tarp or similar to shield surfaces from hot sparks.
It's kind of interesting they put a gasket on this door. The gasket may provide some spring-back on the latch to keep it engaged(?). It makes little to no difference whether the gasket is even there, since the compartment is wide open at the bottom.
I'm in the process of making a carrier for our sewer stuff to ride right next to DEF tank. Did this for our '15 Palazzo.

I’d like to see what you do with the sewer hose, been wanting to do the same, looking for ideas.

See pictures below showing before and after installation. Used aluminum diamond plate and aluminum angle to construct this. Had to reassemble inside the compartment. Ready for Advil...
