Thor Warranty Surprise - ACE 29.2
After coming back from Disney's Fort Wilderness in December, I noticed that two of the storage doors on the passenger side were warped. Even the main cabin door was warping. The passenger side wheel well "trim" was peeling up and warping.
Warping / bubbling / wavy. Not sure what was causing it. I took it to the camping world or Oakwood Georgia to file a warranty claim.
Here is the surprise. I showed up one year to the very day that I purchased the vehicle. I wasn't sure if Thor would accept the warranty claim. The service desk informed me that after a brief chat with Thor they determined that my one year warranty had indeed expired the day before. If you purchase on January 1st, it is good until the last day in December. So, if you purchase on January 2nd, the 2nd is the beginning of the next calendar year as far as warranties are concerned. You would be covered from January 2nd to January 1st of the following year.
Even though I was one day out of warranty, Thor honored my claim and authorized the dealer to perform all of the repair work free of charge to me.
Just got it back and it is looking good. Dealer indicated that the panels warped due to high heat. Nobody can explain where this heat came from in the middle of December, but it is back to normal.

To me, this is very scary. What's to keep "high heat" from happening again?

But, are they going to honor the warranty if it happens again to another panel?

prob not... thats why its good to document with pictures and paper trails, then you can have a better case to present.... you never know till you try.

Glad they did the right thing. Sure would have been better to know what really caused it though.
good luck

A question to ask yourself, on that 1 year warranty, does it end with the phrase "You may have other rights which vary from state to state"?
Most do, I will not even attempt to tell you what those rights are but.. I will say it may well pay to know them.. A attorney specialising in the Uniform Comercical Code or a consumer proteciton attorney or your state's consumer protection agency can tell you what they are.
I can not.

That is why it's a good idea to get a good extended warranty. We bought a 7 year bumpter-to-bumper warranty on our ACE. We just went out of warranty with Thor so we'll see how good the extended warranty company is. Our service man says that they are pretty good to work with but they often send a rep out to see the coach before they approve the work.
