Towing with Challenger

Hello everyone. We currently tow a jeep unlimited (4 door) with our motor home. I'm thinking of trading the jeep for a ram 1500 eco diesel. Anyone towing pickup trucks with their challengers??

Get the 4WD one or with the RWD you will need a driveshaft disconnect.

I agree with the weight issue.

In my opinion - way too heavy! We tow a Jeep Liberty (great choice) and before that a Jeep Wrangler. Both are great to tow, and the Liberty provides more room. How about a smaller P/U, ie ; Dakota, Colorado, or Ranger - 4WD, of course?

Nice looking truck but... Looking up the truck is comes in at about 6000 lbs. Our Challenger has a 5000 lbs hitch and we flat tow our Ford Explorer - 4500 lbs. I believe the hitch can be upgraded (I think 8000 lbs).

History tells me (about 20,000 miles towing the Explorer) that the 4500 lbs is no problem. Small hit on mpg but not significant. I leave my rear camera on all the time while towing just to keep an eye on the Explorer.

My only concern might be a how high the Ram sits. Not sure what that would do but the is just IMO.

Good luck

How heavy is the Challenger loaded with everything you camp with? That will let you know how much you can tow. If your RV weighs in at 21k you can tow 5k.
