Use of rear camera when not in reverse

Is there anyway to turn on the rear view camera to look at my towed trailer while on the road? Seems like it would be do able, somewhere in the shift panel the rear camera is switched on. I am towing a long trailer and would like to see if it still there.

Help, Dave

I'm going to assume that you have a Jensen. On the left side there is a "CAM" button. I think it is the second one from the bottom. Press the button and it should give you the option to select the camera that will show the rear of your rig.

If you have a new unit (2016) press the mode switch (top left) and that will do it.

I have a 2015.5 Challenger 37TB with a AXXERA AV614BH. It has a touch screen. On the hard button press Mode. It will bring up the various modes. One will look like a camera. Touch it and the camera view from the rear camera will appear. Word of advise though - select some sort of audio input or you will get video AND audio.

Thanks for the quick response

Talk about being dumb, mine is a Jenson, 2013 with touch screen.
I have driven it 15k and have not noticed the cam button, works really great.

It is always good to ask the question to the right folks. Thanks

Dave

Hey we all have that problem from time to time. I call it snake bite problem.. (If it was a snake I'd be bitten before I saw it).

I will tell you sometimes the person who replies to a simple problem can come off as brilliant completely by accident.

MENSA is made up of some of the smartest people in the world Top single digit of the IQ scale....

So when one posted a problem with her computer which was solved by tapping just one key (or two on some laptops) I came off as brilliant.

You see.. I had been handed the answer about 20 hours earlier.

Just to confuse the issue, is there a "mirror" setting. In other words, some cameras will show things reversed versus looking like a rear view image should. My system can do that and it can really be strange.

Use of rear camera when not in reverse

I tow my CR-V, and it has a backup camera. After driving my RV, I would really like to be able to use the backup camera in the CR-V while driving vs just when backing up....

note to SCI438

As noted I have the Jenson and have my sat radio plugged into the Aux in and get volume control thru the nob when using the sat radio. may be in your settings.

Sat radio volumn

I guess I wasn't clear about my volume control. It does work through the radio unless I select the camera view full time. Then I have to switch back to Aux input, change the volume and then select the camera again.

This is the way it works in our coach. Real pain when you have been on the open highway and slow down for a town. Just when you need the rear view for the toad and the volume down. Got to take the time to change back to "menu" and turn the volume down and then change back to rear view camera.
