Max Force 10

I was just curious on what brand of oil everyone was running in their engines.
I was also wondering is the synthetic oil worth the extra money? I put less than 6,000 miles per year on my 2011 Holiday Rambler 40'.

I have been using non-synth Rotella 15W40 in mine. 37K miles so far and no issues with the MF10.

Synthetic oil is definitely a great product and worth the money. I use it in my four wheelers where oil changes are based on mileage. On the MH, where mileage is far lower, oil changes are driven by time, not miles. I find the Rotella works just fine.

I also worked for a time in the Lubricants Dept at Shell Oil, so I guess I’m not an impartial source on this subject.

I've been using Shell Rotella W1540. My mileage is similar to yours at about 6-7k a year. If I was running closer to the Max amount of 15k I would opt for synthetic.

I use Rotella T6 5W-40. 80% of engine wear over the life of an engine is at start up. 5W oil flows better at start up reducing wear. Also, synthetics have reduced "coking" at high temps at the turbo's reducing the possibility of starving the turbo's of oil. This is very important since Navistar's specs call for zero clearance at the turbo bearings. I also go a little further and run an over the road mico lubricant Z-Max to further protect the turbo's. T6 is about $55 for 10 qts at Wal-Mart or Amazon.

I GET 8.5 TO 9.5 mpg so maybe it pays for itself over time.

I also use Rotella T6 synthetic 5W-40. I have about 45,000 mi so far and change it yearly at an average of 7500 miles/yr. I also was told that synthetic oil will keep the DPF cleaner. So far I have never had to do a forced regen so maybe the oil helps.

I use Delo 400 SDE 15W-40. It has CK-4 rating, also meeting CJ-4 rating that the 2013 Maxforce 10 requires. We bought our coach used and the previous owner had just changed the oil with Rotella T. My first oil change, about 9000 miles later, was also with Rotella T. We had to do a few regens, but nothing crazy. Started using Delo and even fewer regens. Did have a doser valve issue,( the design of the gasket was faulty, the hole in the gasket was to small. Ever since the valve change, we have not had to do a regen, about 15,000 miles. The engine is quieter with the delo, and it goes on sale at Napa and Advanced a few times a year. Stan
