MaxxForce 7 - Brochure

Hi Def -- Navistar MaxxForce 7 PDF file.

Read this PDF at 200% magnification to get some really fine engine details.

This is the engine that is used on front diesel Workhorse Chassis motorhome chassis. The engine powers both W20 and W22 "D" model chassis.

Interesting. Some observations...
-about 400 lb. heavier than an 8.1 gas engine. I assume the suspension is calibrated to handle it, but that will be 400 lb. less load capacity.
-about same weight as a Cummins ISB.
-there is a lot of "stuff" on top of the engine. I suppose that is all for emissions and turbo plumbing. I like the fact that this engine does not require urea injection as the Cummins apparently does.
-I have not been a fan of the V8 diesel configuration, but that is of lesser significance in a motorhome chassis. I wonder what "major" engine service will involve on the Workhorse chassis. I saw a Ford HD pickup with the cab lifted entirely off its chassis to be able to service some engine component (think it was the fuel pump).

If the coach I wanted was equpped with the MF-7, I think it might be a good setup. I would expect high altitude performance to be better than the 8.1 due to turbo-charging. Are there any MF-7 owners reporting their mileage yet?

Unknown at this time we haven;t seen any users yet but I expect they will show up. For a while there we didn't have any UFO owners now we have about a dozen maybe.

Workhorse places in their ad piece 13.2 MPG on a W20D Four Winds Serrano. This vehicle is rated for 20,500 GVW, is already lightweight and short approximately ~33 length.

The Serrano article later in the thread.

While not powerful enough for my needs that would be a great engine for smaller motorhomes and would think it an excellant candidate for class "c" as well. I like the fact the injectors are piezo electronic and don't require a high pressure oil pump as the only mechanical problem with my 04' DT 530 to date has been a leak at that pump.

yup its the same engine that's int eh 2008 to current ford pickups
it did have some growing pains and egr concerns
and low mpg. but overall it has some grunt, especially when the dpf is removed its allowed to breath

sort of hard to classify the rv as OFF road only though

i didnt see what tranny it will be coupled to?
