Hi folks!
I have a MaxxForce 7 and the book says oil change every 6 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. On that basis, it is due for a change at 5,600 miles. It has 26,000 miles and It uses no oil.
Question: Can I safely go longer or is it just "by the book"?
I would like to drive it another 2,500 miles to my preferred service shop in PA.
Dave

I was always reminded of the Fram Oil commercial. Pay me now or pay me later.

That is my normal reply, Cliff. :-)
The issue is not cost or time so much as where to get it done. It is due in Jan. We are in Yuma until Feb.

I'd say you're ok. These dates and mileage amounts have some leeway.

Thanks Cliff.
We leave Yuma mid Feb, arrive PA in June. So I am extending the change to nearly a year but only a total of about 8000 miles.

I was always under warranty so I stayed within the recommended intervals. Didn't want to give them an excuse to not honor it. I know your feelings about warranties and therefore that's not an issue for you. Maybe someone else will show up with better advice.

Dave,
You can get it changed at Speedco in Casa Grande, AZ. Speedco is a nationally recognized service company for a lot of HD diesel engines in trucks. If you insist on an International oil filter, I doubt they have it as Speedco uses Fleetguard and Baldwin.

Believe you are ok to wait. For piece of mind, an International truck dealer can do the oil change, with appropriate filter, grease chassis (my manual says to lub every 6 months), and change the fuel filters. Our International dealer, who has many MaxForce 7's says the fuel filter should be changed every 3rd oil change.
