Navistar Comments On EPA Final Rule

Navistar Comments On EPA Final Rule

LISLE, Ill., Aug. 30, 2012 -- Following is a statement from Troy Clarke, Navistar president and chief operating officer, about the Final Rule for nonconformance penalties (NCPs) for on-highway heavy heavy-duty diesel engines issued today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

We are pleased that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued the Final Rule for nonconformance penalties (NCPs) for on-highway heavy heavy-duty diesel engines.

We can now provide our dealers and customers with clarity and certainty as we transition to our clean engine technology and look forward to utilizing the Final Rule as needed.

Implementation of the Final NCP Rule will have no impact on our vehicles previously certified by the EPA under the Interim NCP Rule.

Gee, with a statement like that (It says absolutly nothing of value) he'd make a great Politicial candidate or even an elected official.

What the heck can he say? The company is in real trouble burning through cash not only in fines, but in lost sales. Other manufacturers are smelling blood in the water and are threatening to take the EPA to court again because the 4k fine on each engine is too little.
The bad news for Navistar continues to mount so they better get their Cummins based engine out to market ahead of schedule.
The hard truth is that the marketplace does not reward incompetence!

I'd say it's a positive step forward, as least they now know exactly where they stand and can move forward with certainty about what;s happening to them.
While not the best news it at least let's them make a game plan to move continue forward
