Need Help to reset MIL

Went a week ago for a short trip and on my way back home I noticed some power loss and the boost topped out at 23 psi. The MH was still drivable but the acceleration was poor. A couple of minutes later the MIL started to blink. Back home I right away took off the engine covers and made a visional inspection. I discovered that the boost tube coming from the inlet mixer box to the turbo charger was broken off at the turbo connection. Went to the International dealer and bought a new boost tube kit (400N/2516013C91). The parts guy told me he sells quite a few of them since they get bridle on "older" engines. Yesterday, I took the old one off and installed the new one. Very easy on the mixer side, a PIA on the turbo side. I have attached some pictures. I took the MH for a test drive in the afternoon and it run great. Lots of power and the boost is up to 40+ psi, BUT the MIL is still blinking. Perhaps some of you know how to reset it without going to dealer. Also has anybody experience with the Nexus NL 102 scanner, $ 110.- at ebay. Would I be able to reset the MIL with this scanner. Any help is appreciated.

According to Nexus, the NL 102 scanner will clear codes on your International. If you get one, be sure to read codes first. Blinking the MIL indicates a more serious problem than just being on steady. Write them down before clearing.

If you wish to just clear the light, this may work. With shore power disconnected, also disconnect coach battery negative and chassis battery negative. If it will reach, place negative cable terminal on chassis battery positive terminal. Hold the two together with a zip tie or similar for 15 minutes. This is safe because the negative battery posts are not connected to anything. If it won't reach, remove the positive terminal as well and tie together. By doing this, it discharges any capacitors that may keep memory alive. Hook batteries back up, positive first, negative last for safety. Reset your house and chassis "salesman" switches. Start it up and see if MIL goes out. If not, your PCM computer has EE Proms and will require a scanner to clear codes.

Note that any radio presets will be erased. Any other devices with settings menus may need to be reprogrammed too. Scanner makes things easy if you can justify the $.

Thank you, I will try this. In the meantime, I have found another short tube going from the air intake to the turbo solenoid being broken. Of course, I am going to replace this first and then provide an update.

Are you talking about the small hose from the boost solenoid to the waste gate actuator? Both these pieces broke on my MF 10 Keep us updated on your repairs and MIL reset Thanks

Yes, and there is actually another short tube going from the air intake duct to the solenoid as well. I have replaced them all, disconnected the batteries, but the MIL is still on and blinking. Since the MH is running great, I think all I need is a reset/erase. Does anybody have any experience with Heavy Truck scanners which can be purchased at amazon or ebay. The dealer would erase the code(s) but charges 1 hour minimum ($ 165 plus tax). I guess for that price, I can buy a scanner and use it also in the future.

When you disconnected the battery, did you also touch the negative cable to the positive cable? That will discharge any capacitors that may be powering a memory. If you did and the MIL remained, you either have a presently occurring fault or the PCM is EEProm based and requires a scanner. If fault is presently occurring, a scanner can't clear it either.

As I replied earlier, the Nexus is advertised as compatible with your International.

The fact that the MIL is blinking is significant. The light is steady for any code that may set. It blinks for the most serious and/or catalyst damaging faults.

Update:

I got the Nexas 102 scanner and hooked it up to the MH. Then I turned on the ignition and the display of the scanner lit up. I selected HD OBD and then system J1939 and then selected "Engine". The scanner showed no current or past DTC's. Then I selected " After Treatment". It showed no current DTC but a past DTC, SPN 3471 Count 2 aftertreatment 1 fuel pressure control actuator. I selected "Erase codes" and now the MIL is gone. I took the MH for a 60-mile test drive, some city, some Interstate and the MH is running very well, with boost up to 40+ psi and the MIL did not come on again. I think with the tube changes everything is fine now. I want to thank everybody for their help.
