2008 6.7 ISB Coolant Type?

I am coming up short trying to find the type of coolant my 2008 Cummins 6.7L ISB uses.

The manual says to use Texaco JC04 or Van Waters & Rogers No. 6038. I have no earthly idea what they mean by that. Google isn't turning up anything useful, either.

THANKS!

ISB is a native bore engine so no liners to pit unlike bigger engines that use wet liners. Cummins used to say any antifreeze was OK. But they may have changed that by now.

Opinions range all over the place. About the only consistent thing is low silica. As far as I'm concerned, I am most interested in extended change intervals. Well, that and decent protection.

No kidding? Well, it's certainly a lot cheaper than that Mopar stuff! I'll look at that as an option. Thanks!

It's good for their bigger ISC and ISL so it should be good for the ISB too.

I would agree a good flush is in order prior to any coolant change. However I wanted to do a straight concentrate mix on my own once....and although I found concentrate was in manufacture...it was special order only.

The comment of Final Charge with distilled water more likely is moot as all coolants come pre-mixed 50/50 these days.

On a note of longevity....I used Final Charge in a Ford Powerstroke 7.3 diesel engine for over 300,000 miles with no change or additive.

I ordered Final Charge concentrate, cheaper that way, so distilled water was a necessity.

I don't know about cheaper...but roger that on special order. Like I said. Just didn't want someone to thing they should add water to the pre-mix....which is what is commonly available.

Other than cost, is there any other advantage to doing your own mix?

There is really. When you flush your system with water...you really never get all of the water out. Using concentrate allows one to mix the proper ratio on refill using a tester and correct amounts of distilled water.

I just noted that my local O'Reilly's Auto Parts is carrying the Final Charge Concentrate for $30/gal. I am pleased as I would like to do a flush on the motorhome.
