605hp Cummins Def delete?
I have a 2022 cornerstone wth a 605hp, is it possible to delete these? If so, who can do it. I see that the laws has changed to allow this?

While there has been rhetoric that the EPA is changing the rules that has probably has not been codified. In addition to the EPA many states and locales not only follow the EPA but also go above and beyond. Following CARB is the most common and we do that in NY. These areas will continue to have inspection and monitoring programs. The consequences can be very steep. I do not see a path to doing this any time soon.

Don't delete. Hugh fines if caught. A lot of dealerships and repair shops will not work on a delete unit. May not be able to trade it in a a dealer because of the delete. Take a look at Pittsburgh Power website and buy there Max Mileage additive first before you do a delete.Call them and ask for Bruce or Eric.

Is it possible to physically delete it - sure. Is it possible to physically delete it and have the engine still run - maybe. Who will attempt it - no legitimate shop will touch it.

Very difficult to find any shops to do this. 3K Calibrations located in Canada can reprogram the ECU. if you have the ability to remove or modify the necessary hard parts.
Biggest issue with a delete would be finding a shop out on the road do any emergency repairs if needed.

I’m curious, Shanevrr, what would you expect to gain by deleting the DEF System on your Cornerstone? Compared to the other operating and maintenance costs of one of these beasts the cost of a few gallons of DEF per year is negligible so I doubt saving money is your motivation.

Before you delete I would suggest calling either Performance Diesel (PDI) in Utah or 3Kcalibrations in Abbotsford, BC. When chatting with them you can discuss what you would like from your engine that it is not giving you. PDI won’t delete, 3K will.

I'd be way more concerned about getting a proper tune on the ECM. I've heard way too many horror stories of a crap tune being installed that ruins the motor in short order. Usually lots of claims of increased power, responsiveness, and mileage increases. But if they don't know exactly what they're doing with the tune you could torpedo your motor. Thankfully it's a cheap part to replace

You should Google DEF Simulator. Might be a reversable alternative to consider.

Let me give you my 2 cents on this topic.
I was long gone from forum, but was a reminded by a friend who was showing me this exact thread while he is thinking about deleting his Cummins.
The best thing I ever did was deleting my Cummins engine.
I deleted all emissions, DPF SCR DEF and EGR.
Process was very straight forward mechanically speaking, you have to cut open the filters and hollow them out, so it doesn't clog.
EGR is fairly simple, and some members kindly provided diagrams how it works.
Goal is to prevent EGR to recirculates gas into the intake, so you need to block off intake's crossover pipe.
I've been running it like this for a few years and I did almost 100k miles (not sure on exact number), and had no issues at all.
No downtime of any kind.
No black smoke.
Power is a lot better then stock.
Be careful who you use for tuning. I paid premium price for my RV, and it got the job done great!
I own some semi trucks in one of my companies, and I got them deleted too, but I wanted to save some money and used cheaper provided - that didn't end up well, since I had to go back to company that did the delete on my RV and ask them to do my trucks, which have ran flawless ever since.
I hope I helped someone.

Here in NY, we have an annual emissions Inspection. NY, like other follow the CARB states will not be backing down. They also started a campaign to do roadside emissions inspections. So far that appears focused on commercial traffic. My understanding that once caught, there are the fines and then a 30-day grace period to have emissions system restored. After that there is the process to confiscate and destroy the offending vehicle.
The main purpose of these systems is the reduction of NOx production. Not just soot and smoke.

Did you pick up any increase in fuel mileage?
Thanks

I know some of the truckers we used at work deleted their's, me personally I wouldn't even think about it. Way too much downside.
