8.3l Cummins exhaust manifod question

Hi everyone,

After all I've read about exhaust manifold leaks on a 6C 8.3l (11/93 production date in my coach ) is to replace the one piece manifold with a two piece manifold.

I called Rocky Mountain Cummins-Las Vegas and was told that there is no two piece manifold for my motor. Is this true or is my engine to old to have service bulletins in their system?

My issue is that I have leaks at the head mounting surface and at the turbo. I'm not sure if the manifold is cracked or not, but I figured it would be a good time to replace it with one that is supposed to be an improved design since I have to take it apart anyway.

Thanks, Steve

I have replaced mine on 1999 Eagle, but it was already a 2 piece. It also was a little different design than the OEM and appears to be more robust.

I don't know what the difference would be in the year models as far as the manifold goes, but have you looked in Cummins Quick Serve? I took my engine S/N to Cummins and had them look up current part #

It's not a horrible job to R&R it, but not the most pleasant......You could have just blown gaskets, and can take the manifold to a machine shop for resurfacing. Be sure to replace all mounting bolts, there prone to break (ouch) Spray PB Blaster all over them and turbo hardware for a few days before removing....

Don't know if Cummins will have your engine in the Quckserve database or not

https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html

You can join for free and once registered enter your engine SN and then you can look up parts. It will also provide service bulletins.

I have an exhaust manifold from my 2005 ISC that I had machined flat. Carried it as a spare. Don't have an ISC anymore.
