Air Filter Service 350 Cummins
I need to check my air filter and was wondering how to remove it. This is a canister type and it has two straps. Before I go crazy taking things apart I was wondering what the proper method was for removing the filter.

OK found it. Once the sun came out and shined light on the subject I was able to figure it out. Its a Racor unit. The date code on the housing is from 03 so I'm thinking this might be original to the coach. Either that or they stay on the shelf for a long time.
Has anyone tried to source one of these?

Removal is a simple 3 step procedure:
1.) Loosen the hose clamps.
2.) remove the hoses from the filter.
3.) open, or remove, the two straps, (depending on the type of strap).
However, I question what and why you intend to "check" about the filter??
If it is 11 years old replace it.

Air filters are not typically removed to see if it's clean or not. If removed, you install a new one.
I have a gauge which tells me when the filter needs changing. Your setup may not have this same gauge. However, if the date is true, it NEEDS to be changed.
The filter that I use is a Donaldson P537448.
It really depends on the coach and year of the engine.

I absolutely intend on replacing it. The Racor P# is 094973007. Most truck part places around here are not open past noon on Saturday, if at all.

When I went to the freight liner school a few months ago they said to change air filters every 2 years.

Replaced mine last year, replaced with Wix 46748. Not really hard to do but having a helper was really nice.
I think I got it from http://http://www.filterbarn.com/

So after reading this I went out to the MH to see what numbers might be on my air filter. No joy, the label is shot. So I see in this thread Donaldson, Wix and Racor part numbers. Are they all the same? I tried Wix's cross reference and the numbers do not line up. Call Winnebago? Might the number be in myCummins manual?

You're more likely to find the air filter number in your "coach manual" or your "chassis manual" because, in most cases, the coach builder or the chassis maker, supplies/adds/installs the air filter.

I just dug through the Freightliner, Cummins and Winnebago manuals I have and no luck so far. I have the change intervals but no PN.

Mark call the chassis manufacturer with your VIN number and they shold be able to tell you what filter you have. That part number will allow you to cross reference to see what other filters are available.
Good Luck!

I hope you have fat wallet. That filter lists over $400. My local parts guys sell it to me at $180. I should say sold it to me. I don't change it until it needs it, at that price. If the filter is getting clogged you will see it on any uphill grade. It will blow black exhaust. As the old country song says , "his stacks blowing black as coal". He had his foot to the floor and dumping more fuel than the engine can burn.
In the MH blows black because the fuel/air mixture is out of whack. Not enough air so it doesn't burn clean.
