Anyone have their Cummins L9 tuned up from 400-450 HP?

I have an appointment with Freightliner on 21st to have my 2019 Ventana Cummins L9 turned up from 400 to 450 HP it retains the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty and costs 1500.00.

Looking for any feedback from anyone who has gone this route.

How do you like it?

is it very noticable?

How did it affect fuel mileage?

And anything else you can offer.

Does this also increase torque? The only thing I would be concerned about is if the transmission is able to handle the increased HP and torque...

Peak torque at 1400 rpm remains the same 1250 lb ft. they simple tip up the torque curve to carry more torque to 2100.

Looking at the dyno graphs, it appears to be about 150 ft lbs.

Like I said this is a factory calibration that keeps the 5 year 100,000 mile drive line warranty.

So it is 50 HP at 2100.

here some items to consider.. torque remains the same, HP will get up to speed little faster but create much more heat, so most higher HP engines have little bigger rad. mountain climbing will require more vigilance in gear selection. you will probably use more fuel. as if you have more power you gonna use or why have it.. exhaust temps from turbo will increase. none of this is unmanageable with attention. go for it if ya need it.

There have been several posters who have done this but I see they haven't responded

From their post they were satisfied with the results

My 450hp does very well and I am glad it is 450hp rather than 400

Here is another thread very similar to your question. It appears that just changing the chip isn't the whole picture. According to this thread, you should change the lift pump, exhaust manifold, muffler etc etc etc. Myself personally, the engine was engineered to run as it was manufactured. Why mess with it really. Note this is a 2019 L9 Cummins.

One of the criteria set by Freightliner/Cummins is that all the proper equipment, be in place or they won't do it.

I gave them my vin, they checked Cummins and Freightliner and got the Green light that I already have everything I need to run the 450 HP program.

You are Right Winniman, Earlier models needed a lot more larger parts to do the uprate correctly.

I was hoping to find several people who have experienced this upgrade, waiting patiently LOL.

ya know they still did it to older models. there req's are not changed from 5 or 10 yrs ago to now, you say it has to meet specs well the engine will meet specs. just like yrs ago. are you saying they will not now upgrade like they did previously?? hmm/

11-12% difference is not a lot unless you use all power available. my wife has driven sticks n turbos, sine '76. she has had Subaru turboed legacy's wrx'x for yrs. had many high HP cars in '70's-'80s and 20% HP difference is only noticed by me if heavy on throttle. light cars heavy trucks ect. course some think ya just floor the diesel n its best always.. now just an opinion, if ya have one different state it,

I'm not sure you mean by this comment. Allison transmissions used in MHs have the following max limits:

Allison 3000, 450 HP and 1,250 torque.
Allison 4000, 650 HP and 1,950 torque.
