Boost/No Boost

Finished the trip and back home. No problems at all with the Banks unhooked. I'm now certain the problem lies within the Banks module and/or wiring. Now going to contact Banks and see if they will bench test the module and also see if they can provide me with a new wiring harness. Sure did miss the extra torque and power through the gears that the Banks system privides, but the other issues create too much uncertainty and negate the pleasure of driving my coach. Will post the results of the Banks testing.

This has been very helpful to me, my rig 2000 5.9 with Ottomind and Stinger ran fine for years after installation, but for last couple years, has a mind of it's own. Start up and may run great. Next start, it has low power, and the cruise surges. Simple fix, get off road, shut down engine, wait 5 minutes (bathroom break), start back up may run great again. Banks suggests disconnecting OTTOMIND at MAP sensor if problem goes away, OTTOMIND is bad, if not, probably MAP sensor or maybe some wiring as you describe. I will check both and report. What option has anyone tried for a "box" to replace a bad OTTOMIND?
Thanks,
John

Okay, I took the plunge and bought a new MAP sensor for my unit. While I was "under the bed" I cleaned all the ground wires I could find, checked all connections and hoped for the best. Worked like a charm. My MAP sensor was very dirty, so I suspect that was the trouble all along, but I feel better knowing all connections are good. Didn't find any bad connections, but still worth the effort. I suggest you try a new MAP sensor, not that hard to change and less than $75 from a genuine Cummins distributor. I like to stay with original anytime I can. Can't wait to get back on the road again!!! Galveston at Thanksgiving to fly kites with my grand kids and then on to South Texas to play music. Life is good!!!!
