Buying EGR valve for ISL?
My ERG valve continues to malfunction. EGR code keeps coming up. Very intermittent but has occurred multiple times for two years. I pulled it last year and cleaned it hoping that might fix it.
I want to replace it and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to buy. I searched online and not many available. Reconditioned runs around $750. Part number is 5473228 for 2007 ISL-425hp.

Imo I would only buy a genuine Cummins part, I wouldn’t go with an aftermarket remanded part. I did a quick search and there doesn’t seem to be many available.
I believe I would find a reputable dealer and have it plugged in and make sure that it does in fact need to be replaced. JMO
Obviously if your considering selling your coach in the near future I might take a different approach!

Call the guys at Pittsburgh Power. They have the answers' to fixing this problem. They are truck repair center in Pittsburgh Pa. Check out there website. Running the Max Mileage fuel treatment solves all the EGR problems. If you call ask to talk to the owner Bruce. He is a great guy.

When you cleaned it.
Did you check to see if it was leaking.
Pour cleaning fluid into the air inlet and check to see if it leaks into 2 ports that feed into intake ports. It should not, these are air tight unless seals are gone.
Remove motor and check to see if plunger in EGR moves when pushed with finger.
Remove mounting bracket t bolts that the EGR unit sits on. 4 bolts 2 long and 2 short.
Once this mount is removed, you will see the air heater fins. Heats air into engine when air is cold.
Is it sooted up? Clean shop vac and air.
Check Delta P sensor in base part you just removed. 2 bolts Please note green o rings.
Remove sensor from rear of base plate. Should be able to use pipe cleaner to clean port into exhaust port.
Re install all parts
Drain rad and remove horn from EGR cooler, using light shine into horn should look like a clean rad fins.
If sooted up, which it should/will be (exhaust from turbo) remove and soak in cleaner for 24 hrs. Make sure it is dry when re-installing.
This is all part of the egr system.
This cleaning should be done at 67000 miles. I had to do mine at 30000 miles. The VGT turbo soots the parts.
There is a video on YOU-TUBE/search clean egr valve. Great video
Good luck
Should be able See sensor from back side of base plate. Only access ito remove it, is when base plate is removed from engine. Air heater is then exposed.

Thanks all for your comments. I have a call into Pittsburg Power and await their call.
Here is my thread from last year, when I pulled the valve. It wasn’t that dirty to me, but I got it cleaned up and could move the plunger by hand. I thought I fixed it, but I was wrong.

You have to clean the hole system, port on base plate( can only cleaned when removed plugs up with soot, use pipe cleaner or wire) and air heater.
Filling the egr horn with cleaner and checking to see if the cleaner leaks into the two exhaust ports. It should not, lf so it will leak air.
Turbo creates soot,
Soot passes through air cooler to the egr valve,
The ecm controls the egr valve
That air is heated via the heater if required. This heater does soot up.
See you tube video. Great video

You did a great job on cleaning the EGR valve.
When you have it off,
Clean the map sensor
Remove Delta P Sensor from baseplate 2 bolts on ISB 6.7, close to egr valve.
Remove baseplate and clean air heater on engine. Remove soot with a shop vac. Do not push soot into air chamber of engine.(soot)
Clean baseplate.
On the backside of baseplate there is an hex screw.(baseplate has to be removed)
This hex screw chamber soots up as well.
Use a thin piece of wire and push into chamber. You will see it, once it is unplugged in the exhaust port in the plate.
The last piece of the egr system is the air cooler that is on the turbo side of the engine.
Rad will have to be drained down to below the level of the egr cooler.
Inside the egr cooler is a mini rad.Boost air from Turbo flows through this mini rad, much like the CAC on your coach. Look inside the horn and see if the soot is blocking the air flow. If so remove and clean, soak for 24 hrs. Make sure it is dry b4 re installing.
Delta pressure valve. Turbo pushes air through this cooler to the intake manifold via the control of the ECM to the egr valve, Map sensor and the Delta Pressure Sensor. (Delta P Sensor)This cooler can be removed and cleaned. Simple Green is the cleaner I use.
That is the whole system for the egr.
Keep this system clean as it effects performance and gas mileage.
A sooted up cooler (egr system) will lead to a sooted up VGT Turbo and it will seize on the slide shaft. That's when you hope that it does seize in the open position or you will be calling a tow truck.
You will get a code that the actuator can not find the home position on key turn on.
Easy to clean, just a little time.
This info relates to a ISB 6.7 Cummins 2008 Fleetwood.
All this work is very easy, and very few tools. A few new gaskets and away you go.
These parts are all on the top of the engine.
Do not ask how I know this as it was very expensive to replace a VGT turbo on this ISB 6.7 with 30k miles.
Good luck

Max mileage is good stuff. I use it in everything I own. Smoothed out the vibration I had in my Kubota tractor. Also use it in my 1968 camaro and my 1966 chevy ll.
Did you get to talk with Bruce or Ethan at Pittsburgh Power? Both are a wealth of information.

Will it truly reduce carbon without causing issues?
