Code reader ( check engine)
I have been reading on getting something to read codes or a check engine light on Cummins engines without spending a fortune.
I like the idea of these options but can you read and reset a warning ???
I was looking at something like a 9 pin to OBD2 Y splitter and / or ScanTool OBDLink MX Bluetooth or a Blue Driver scan tool and use the Cummins App to use on cel, tablet or laptop
There is also the Nexiq Blue-Link™ Mini Truck Mobile Scanner iOS Android with the Cummins app
My second choice would be
Scan Gauge D but can this unit read, give fix info and reset warnings ???
Many Thanks for any info

I have this to read codes, it'll also read some live sensor data...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N4...tag=tapainc-20
If you have a J1939 9 pin diagnostic connector, you can use a Bluetooth reader and free Cummins fault code app on your smart phone....

Just to make this clear for me, if I get the scanner you are saying I could read anything off my Freightliner chassis computer, my 400 ISL Cummins plus maybe cars ???
And / or get wire plus wireless adaptors but this would only get me the Cummins app for motor and not chassis.
Does the scanner gas bluetooth capability to connect to Cummins app ???
Many Thanks again

I have the Scangauge D -- it reads codes and will reset them.
The codes it reads is probably a smaller number than a more sophisticated reader.
thx Dale

For less than 20 dollars you can buy a OBD dongle. That and one of the free phone apps and you can do all you want and a lot more. Apps like Torque can display everyrhing your chassis mfg assigns to the OBD port plus it can act as a full function gage panel to display various temp functions.

Read anything? Probably not. But you'd be able to retrieve diagnostic codes. Then go to Cummins app for explaination ...it's a basic code reader, not a scan tool. It will show some live sensor data, but won't perform any diagnostic functions, or force a exhaust Regen.....it will also work on your car 16 pin obd II connector.
Do a search on Amazon for Bluetooth J1939 connector and you'll get a few options that'll work with the free Cummins fault code app.
I have used Bluetooth obd II that I use an 9 pin J1939 to 16 pin obd with success.
At work I use the Cummins insite Bluetooth with either Snap on's scan/diagnostic tool or the Cummins fault app

We have a 18 Newmar London Aire with a Spartan chassis K3 with the new X-15 engine which has 605 HP. It has a different connector which is green and the connector won't connect. Check with Cummins and since the new computer for engine has been up graded you can'use the connector I used for many years on or 500 ISM engine. Check to make sure the connector will work with 2017 and newer engines. Cummins says the scanner also is different and needs to changed.

Very true. Diagnostics are becoming more complex.
Here's some read on it:

OP says he has a 2006

Thanks Maskwrench for details on the changes with scan tools. Will contact my scan tool company to see if the adapter will work with the OTC scanner.

Did some reading here and there and was going to order the OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner and decided to send email to company if this would work from 3rd party Cummins Fault advisor App. with J1939 adapter. They told me they didn't know to contact Cummins.
I sent email to Cummins and they replied that the Cummins fault advisor is no longer supported. They after sent me this note:
At this time, the only adapters, which are supported for Guidanz Mobile, are Inline Mini and the Inline 7. The drivers for the adapters are downloaded with the mobile app.
Just wondering if some of you tried this Guidanz app with a bluetooth scanner similar mentioned above and if it works or not.
Thanks

I have the OBDLink MX Bluetooth (no OEM Addons) but I don't have a OBD to 6 pin adapter (our Coach uses the 6 pin).

Is Cummins saying their app is no longer supported or that the OBDLink (or ELM327) adapters are not support in the app?
I see the app still is available on Play Store but hasn't been updated for a long time.
EDIT: NVM, I didn't realize Guidanz is by Cummins and replaces FCA.
