It's not quite as easy as a "disconnect". There's software involved that keeps CEL off and engine from derate.... Plus any emissions laws pertaining to the state your registration is, not to mention it's federal law now...
I understand there's a "kit" to do this, but it's $$$...But it's popular with the Dodge pickup crowd, but know, your "shipper" cannot trade his pickup in at a dealership as it's against federal law for them to resale it not meeting emissions laws for the year model engine.
I play by the rules, but someone here may can help.

Thanks Mackwrench.
Most of what I have herd regarding emission maintenance was the EGR system can get gummed up and requires cleaning. According to a youtube video the job does not seem to difficult. Are you aware of any other emission maintenance issues ?

Thanks

In Ontario, the majority of vehicles have to go for an annual emissions test. You would have to keep changing it back to meet the test each year if you lived here.

Yes, it can be "disconnected" and all the emissions stuff can be deleted. That would require some sort of reprogramming the ECM so that it does not look for the emissions hardware. Some claim quite a difference in fuel economy and some not so much. Like what was stated, the emissions equipment from the factory must be working to legally sell it.

I'll add that unless your doing all your own engine repairs and maintenance you'll have a hard time getting Cummins dealer or most independent shops to work on it...
The software's not compatible with Cummins insite, and if you got VGT that's a whole nother issue...

Why?
My system works well, helps with mileage, pollutes less, and smells better.

1/ rumours are legislation is pending to; fine any dealer/shop for not reporting the delete; and police can issue instant, major fines on suspicion of delete; and worse for repeat offenders. 2/ the 2017 CTD has 800# torque. why is this insufficient? 3/ rather than modify, why not learn to drive within the parameters of the CTD and thus produce the least soot for the conditions? true, the EPA has rendered a diesel more costly than long ago, but this is par for course now. either accept or buy a gasser.

Which while a less expensive initial cost will cost more per mile, 6.5 vs 9..5+ mpg of a diesel. And you'd sacrifice the ride, the quiet, the extra capacity, the...

If you still want to disconnect your DEF after all these good reasons not to, call Volkswagen. They know how to do it.
