Has anyone sent their dpf filter out to be cleaned?

Any suggestions on how to observe if their is a restriction?

What year/make/model engine do you have.

You could take your rig to a shop that has the ability to access the ECM via the Insite program. They can download the history of regenerations, it will show when it was done and other parameters. A tech should be able to tell you if the DPF is OK.

If you do this as for a mirror image of the ECM.

Here is a longer post on a DPF issue in a Cummins engine. This individual went to multiple shops without getting problem fixed. They finally removed the filter and pressure washed (which is not recommended). Towards the end of the post there is a picture of a plugged DPF

A lot of truck shops have DPF cleaning machines these days. We bought and set up one years ago at our shop (Peterbilt) and also an oven. The oven was to "bake" DPFs that were clogged up. It took 8 to 12 hours to burn the carbon out of most clogged up filters. Just a normal cleaning took around an hour once it started. There were very few that weren't reusable.
