The failed filter was a Wix, labeled as Ecolite, but had no mesh.
Interesting!
I have used Wix oil, water and air filters for many years and find them high quality.
Wonder if it was speced for/the correct filter for the application???
Said another way, while having the same dimensions, air filters with air inlet on the OUTSIDE can be very different from filters with air inlet in the CENTER.
The same can be said for any brand of air filters.
I've used Wix many times .... never an issue. but air filter is a knock off. This Wix# 46891, looks fake, like a bad seller on Amazon. I wasn't able to source it locally last year. But now run Donaldson P537447.
Once I discovered the failed filter, I ran this one 50 Miles while the Donaldson was on order.Attachment 1 Attachment 365673

NO QUESTION, there are a number of "REPLACES" and even "FAKE" items out there.
I will go out on a limb here-- China is not to blame, at least not directly. There are some good quality products made there and some "you have to be kidding" products made there.
My bottom line is to spent the $$ to buy products from OE manufacturers, irrespective of country of origin.
BTW, this is nothing new. Been dealing with this for many decades!
In today's stressed supply chain I'm glad the OP got his going, I'm still waiting on a complete Detroit Diesel DD15 from Freightliner....told hopefully it'll be around October delivery.
Safe travels briankstan!

I watched the videos, and that is a great sound briankstan! Nice job working through a challenging repair with some real patience. It's going to feel great to get back out on the road.
The air filter discussion is enlightening with respect to the wire mesh. I'm due for a replacement now, so I'll be taking notice. I've been purchasing Donaldson filters, so I think I'm on the right track... but you know what thought did...
I took the Motorhome out for a drive last night, didn't go far as I need to get it licensed first and just took about a 2 mile drive but got up to highway speeds, Boost, Oil Pressure, and water Temps all looked good on my Scanguage D. It was sitting since July 25th of last year when we pulled the motor, so about 10 months.
I was extremely happy to finally get the 5.9 installed and up and running. It was a long process for sure. Especially with having to deal with some additional items it went pretty well, just stretched out longer than I had expected.
Now to see If I can get an Emissions this week so I can get it licensed so I can take my first short trip to get the motor broke in and change the oil again.
One of the things I didn't post was researching the wire schematics to I can make the adapter from the Coach wiring to the wiring harness that came on the motor. Since it was different I wanted to make and adapter rather than tear into either of the existing wiring.
I ended up with using the following to make it, and it's was a direct plug in application to both the Engine and the coach.
Great job on the wiring harness. Plug and play, weather tight, no scabs, corrosion building butt spliced connections. That's a well thought about job that's made to last.
You'd not got that type of attention to detail if someone else did the swap.
...... just wondering, did the original crankcase ventilation hose use the oil fill adapter? I see you have a oil fill cap next to separator, I used a adapter in the rocker cover to vent into separator.
But your install looks good.
You'll not get a drip or drop of oil from the vent hose.....and maintenance free, no water bottle on slobber hose to ever deal with.
