Probably DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and EGR like we have.

My Google search came up with a number of links to Cummins. If you don't have DEF, it's probably just what Mr._D says.

If it is a Diesel Particulate Filter it should be evident in the exhaust system, before the muffler there should be another component the would be the filter.

Basically what the filter does is heat up and actually burn off the carbon that the exhaust produces.

I worked in the underground mining industry during the transition to the EPA cleaner burning engines. The only way we could achieve the required (and MSHA enforced) air quality standards was to install these filters on as many of the underground diesel fleet that we could, probably spent $1M over a 2 year period.

The problem with these systems is that if it is not matched to the applications correctly it will plug up and cause problems. It is important that you achieve higher exhaust temps for extended periods of time to burn off the carbon.

You need to contact Monaco and see if they can enlighten you on this feature, or at least point you in the right direction.
