Fuel/Water separator

I have a 2014 ILS-9 380 HP Cummins engine. When I open the drain valve on the fuel/water separator there is a constant stream of what appears to be clean diesel fuel. Is this normal?

Yes.

If the level of fuel in the tank is above the level of the filter drain, yes, it will run until levels equalize OR (hopefully) you verify nothing but clean diesel coming out and close the drain.

Always catch it in a clean, preferably glass jar. Let sit and see if water/fuel separate.

Also if there isnwater in there it will be the 1st to come out
