I just took a look at Harbor Freight and came across this.

https://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-...gen-59435.html

Be interesting to know if it would work with pre 2006 diesel engines.

For the price, I'd want it to cover ABS codes, at least. If it does OBD-II, I'd also want it to do SRS codes.

FWIW, Cummins Great Plains could not read any codes from my 1999 Cummins ISC. The ECM programming was so obsolete their equipment did not recognize the ECM.
They finally found an old computer in a store-room that did read my ECM, but had to remove the ECM and take it inside their building to read codes, then wipe it clean and install the latest programming it would support.
I doubt this HF unit would work on older engines, and the 20% restocking fee would prevent me from trying it out.

Bought the HF code reader....

Used it to do a regen and it worked

Monitored temps during the process and saw 450-500oC wow

Lasted about 25 minutes

Did this because we had a vgt failure

Call me a lier but i noticed increased performance after

Looked and it does ABS as well

That first regen paid for the tool!!!!!

You know you don't have to buy one, go to an AutoZone store and rent one for free. They do put a hold on your CC for the price of a new one until you return the borrowed one.

Aren't they the Code Readers that won't even do ABS, much less manual Regen's?

I've asked them to read ABS codes before and they told me their code readers won't read ABS codes.

Held off buying the code reader as long as i could waiting for their 25% coupon. Made the purchase and a week later there is the 25% coupon.

Does HF adjust a recient purchase if you took the dive just before?
