"Dark sky: I am curious, what are your filter numbers? I have been using the wrong filters and have been going around and around researching this. Cummins only provided one filter and chassis manufacturer added the water separator and that is where I am getting many different numbers. Thanks."

Happy to provide but I do suggest contacting Cummins and your frame manufacturer with your serial number and VIN since who knows if running changes weren't made during manufacturing. My bus is a 2011 but my engine was actually built in 2009.... Anyways:

Primary fuel filter: Cummins p/n 4934845

Fuel/Water separator: Freightliner Fleetguard p/n FS1065

I know these companies don't manufacture their own filters, but I wanted to be sure I had the right parts so I went with their branded items, easily could have been made by Wix or whoever.....

IIRC, these are the filters I use on mine (added the FF5632 number for you)... Both are OEM:

Fleetguard Fuel Filter FF5632 / Cummins 493484

Fleetguard p/n FS1065

I know the WIX parts are a match, as are the CarQuest ones (which are WIX, IIRC). My manual specified a FS1022 filter--this was not the correct filter for my rig! It has the wrong WIF connector on the bottom of the filter.

When I tried to install the fuel/water separator specified by Cummins, I was also met with an incompatible wiring connector. I naively assumed this new Cummins part was an upgrade. I paid $38 for the wiring harness bit to get the compatible connector, then very conscientiously cut off the old connector and soldered on the new one, complete with shrink tubing and an outer cover. Only then did I try to install the separator and find that the diameter was very slightly too small and the gasket would not seal. DOH!
The only good news is that I didn't throw away the original connector so I was able to splice it back in to suit the correct Freightliner-installed separator.
