ISC330 manifold ??
I see a lot of posts regarding the manifold cracking issue. Is that an issue with a one piece original manifold? And if I se a slip joint in the manifold between 2 exhaust ports, does that indicate that mine has already been replaced and I have less worries on that issue? Irt would be one less thing...... The two piece exhaust manifold , is way more durable than the single piece, but, there have been rare reports of their failure too.
Don't know what a failure ratio compared to the one piece failure would be , but I'd expect it to be a large one.
Cummins , started installing two piece, exhaust manifolds , as original equipment I'll see if I can find a date.

I have a theory about cracked manifolds on ISC diesels equipped with an exhaust brake. The added exhaust heat for extended periods contribute to the cracking if the E-brake is left on constantly. Of course my theory and 6-7 hundred thousand guarantees you a new MH.

My 1999 ISC had 2 piece exhaust manifold oem...it cracked. I replaced it last year. The replacement is also 2 piece, but is a little different design.

Never had a one piece on a ISC, but had two of the 2 piece manifolds crack. Cracked two piece manifolds are not rare. There is no guaranteed permanent fix.

MY 2 piece manifold cracked a couple years ago. Not sure if it was a contributing factor but I had a radiator failure that basically dosed the entire engine with coolant.
The 2 piece manifold cracking is not a rare occurrence as I've seen many posts on this.
The new 2 piece manifold looked beefier then the old.

My ISC came with a two piece, one cracked. I replaced both because using a new piece with an old piece could cause another crack due to difference in expansion of the two.

How do two different pieces affect each other when not attached together? What are the different expansion rates of old and new cast iron?
