Dale, sorry to see you moving on from the vintage American club! Enjoy your new ride.
It sounds to me like your compressor is working just fine. The good news is that a new dryer assembly and governor are a relatively cheap date.
The dryer valves can be replaced, but I would go with a new dryer just for peace of mind.

I would actually like it to be the Dryer versus the governor.
While the dryer is more expensive, it is more accessible.
I have searched around and cannot even see the governor.
(on the Eagle it is easy, right there on the frame rail).
No such luck on the Tiffin with the Freightliner chassis.
I am sure it can be said -- "Well just follow the inlet hose of the dryer upstream and you will find the governor" -- that is undoubtedly true, but the large bundle of cables and lines that it disappears into make that very difficult.
Still looking for some advice on what is happening and if is likely the Dryer or the governor.

That definitely sounds like an air dryer rebuild is in your future. Since it did air up to full pressure it's not a compressor problem. The first thing to do is rebuild the air dryer which is sorely needed anyway, then if problem persists then look to the governor which should be mounted on the compressor.

If when the 1/4 inch line is off the dryer, does air come out of that line.
The governor sends a signal TO the dryer thru that line. That should only happen at 125 to130 PSI.
If air comes out of that line, before the air pressure exceeds the cut off pressure, you have a sticking governor.
Some are right on the compressor or mounted inside the chassis rail near the compressor.

twinboat ---
there is a bit of air in that line when I first remove it -- sort of like a residual, but then the line has NO air in it
air does continue to escape for another second from the air dryer where the line is connected then it also stops like it is sealing itself.
thoughts???
thx Dale

Most likely the air dryer purge valve, the thing that's leaking.
You can rebuild the whole dryer, buy a rebuilt one, or buy new.

I will have to figure out the exact model tomorrow --- then probably order a new/reman one.
It is some model of Haldex "Purest" -- -- maybe a model DA34100
I am trying to get the exact model from Freightliner.
I will let everyone know the results when i replace it.
thx Dale

Dale,
The line from compressor to dryer pumps air when the unloader valves are closed in the compressor. Once you got it to 130 psi, the line from the wet tank to the governor has more air pressure than (internal) governor spring pressure and the air was cut off to the 1/2" supply line to dryer.
The fact you got it to build air to 130, and the governor shut compressor off (opened unloader valves) leads me to believe the governor is good.
As fast as governor location, as you know our Eagles have them remote mounted. That may not be the case on this one.
It could be bolted directly to compressor.....and you'll need some foul language to access it.
My gut is still the purge valve on dryer. Before you rip the dryer off, look closely at the bottom of it, there may be a snap ring or a small cover plate you can remove and the valve come out the bottom. Maybe able to clean it up, spray some brake clean up into dryer, put some light grease on purge valve o-rings and get it working.
I'm free tomorrow if you want to give me a call once you're digging in it.
this video may help.

Thanks Todd -- -I am going to pull the air dryer today or tomorrow and hopefully get a good part number from it. I will replace that and hope it is not the governor.
If it is the governor I will probably have that done by someone else.
I have two projects left to get the Eagle for sale.
The first is the brake squeal -- I am going to somehow find different brake shoes and have those replaced.
The second is the transmission. It shifts pretty hard so am going to have Allison set it up for a relearn and see if that helps.
I do hate to see it go but it is just time.
I could allready list three or four things that the Eagle does better than the Tiffin, even if it is an Allegro Bus. Of course some things on the Tiffin are nicer like FOUR slides for the wife ---LOL
take care -- Dale

You can exchange your dryer for a rebuilt unit. They come with a rebuilt cartridge as well. They have them at big truck part stores that also sell brake parts. The governor is easier to replace than the dryer and that same part store will sell them. Just bring in your old parts and they will match them up.

Just removed the Haldex dryer --- 15 minute job if I stretch the time.
I ordered a new one from a local truck parts place --- called several, no one had that one rebuilt. price was decent compared to Internet at $320 plus tax ($340 total)
It should be here in two - three days.
For future reference search by others in IRV2
2007 Tiffin Allegro Bus
Cummins ISL 400
Freightliner chassis
Freightliner 12-20488-000 PN N4253H
cross referenced to Haldex DA34100 on Haldex website.
We will see if that is the problem.
I have yet to even SEE the governor. It does seem to be located on the side/end of the compressor. If it is not the dryer then the Governor will be someone elses job to locate and replace. At my expense of course.
Let you know --- thx Dale

Doesn't the bus have a side radiator?
If so, and the governor is on the compressor, it should be relatively easy to access, unless Tiffin has mounted something in front of it.
