I second the Aero, just installed one and was a fairly easy job. Measure the diameter of your muffler opening to get the correct Aero Muffler. You will need to make changes on the hangers. Muffler has a throaty, somewhat louder sound but not to the point of annoying.

There has been a number of discussions about the performance of the Aero mufflers on these forums. The consensus seems to be that is has a different tone and a few owners thought it was too loud. One owner checked with a decibel meter both before and after replacement. The decibel difference was not measurable. The tone was noticeably different.

We have a Essex with the Aero and it is a little louder but doing a pre and post turbo boost check picked up about 2 psi in boost and a slight increase in fuel economy. This and a K/N filter increase boost from 32 to 40 psi and maybe 5 mph on 6% grades. A number of Newmar owner's like the sound and with the increases would suggest the change. If to loud then go back to stock 500$ muffler. Have 125K on coach and over 100K with changes.

We have a Essex with 500 ISM and the exhaust change was one of the first changes we did. With a pre and post turbo boost check the exhaust change increased boost with boost gauge from 32 to 34. When adding K/N filter the boost raised to 40 and maybe 5 mph increase in speed on 6 plus % grades. Have over 100K with changes and would suggest the Aero exhaust change and save around 400$ over stock.

Fte diesel
Check out FTE DIESEL resonator/muffler they have designs which provide a verity of inlet and outlet sizes and lengths to fit your application.
There design allows exhust gas to expand upon entering the muffler and then exiting through a twist which should speed up the exhust and contains no packing to burn out later.
It may be loud to some outside, however, inside the coach there was no noticeable increase in sound or drone. The engine is louder than the exhust.

Don't be surprised if you don't get much boost if you already have a strait through muffler. Do you have a 5" tail pipe ? You might look at this verses the Aero. 7" ROUND 12774
If you are running a K/N filter start putting money aside for your next engine. K/N filters allow almost twice the dirt to pass that Cummins or Cat allow for maximum.
Just keep an eye on the filter gage and change if needed or every 2 years.
