ISX Problems

There is a current thread discussing #6 valve failure in an ISX 600 .

This has me thinking of a few questions and I didn't want to hi jack the current thread.

After searching the forums and internet really can't find solid answers to my questions.

Here on the forum there have been a few threads and many posts on ISX 650 valve/ceramic injector failures, fewer ISX 605 failures and very few ISX 600 failures.
So my questions are;

ISX numbering/models as in
ISX(horsepower) CM ###
What do the different model numbers mean?

What years and model numbers are affected by the #6 valve problem
What years and model numbers are affected by the ceramic injector pump?

What year were these problems corrected by Cummins (if in fact they were)?

2008 December production ISX 650 CM871. The valve breakage (Chordal Malfunction) wasn't cured till new heads were rolled into production in Sept 2016. See TSB 150130 for new part numbers. Once the new head, valves and programming are done ($31,000 in my case) the failures appear to have been cured. Since mine was rebuilt twice before the new parts came out it's cost me $53,000 out of pocket.

More specific to Country Coaches with ISX's. And I know others will help adjust where my memory is off!

> ISX600 CM870 'Dirty' EGR - Most 2007 and earlier Magna and Affinities with ISX's will have this configuration. Much lower rate of problems overall, and very few #6 Valve issues (Which some speculate could have been caused by other problems then a corrosion caused breakage.)

> ISX600/650 CM871 'Clean' EGR & DPG - 2008 and on Magna and Affinities will have a very high probability of having this engine.

====

Ceramic designation damaged ISX Configurations CMxxxx, I do not believe were ever installed in Country Coaches.

====

Falling out of the wonderful fold of Country Coaches. I believe the X15's (Really a lightly modified ISX, until the second era came out.) had some teething pains. And I 'think' (Best to fact check this on Rawze's or some other Over The Road Truckers site.) that they became pretty well sorted out by the 2nd era came out. Some RV Owner's here, feel the X15 in their newer (SWAG 2018/19 and newer.) coaches - are well sorted out by Cummins. Reporting good power, and respectable MPG's...). (Again. On the X15 - I've not done deep dives before. And going off of memory from many threads from coach owners... So please fact check my memory!).

===

OP - Good luck on your research!

Best to all,
Smitty
