No acceleration

2007 400 isl, sometimes when I start off from a stop I lose my acceleration ,it seems like there is nothing there, if I let off the throttle and push it back down it will take off and be fine. May have to let off/press throttle several times to get coach to go. Anyone have any ideas.

I"ll jump in. Does this happen only at full throttle or partial throttle positions? If only at full throttle then have you checked your gas pedal electrically? Your engine is a "drive by wire" setup and the gas pedal is an electrical variable resistor. They can develop dead spots and yours could be at the extent of its travel. I have a silverleaf display that shows me the position of the pedal and would tell me if I have an issue like that.

It seems like when I barely push the throttle, like turning a corner at red light, then when I push throttle after corner turn is complete it doesn't respond. I have to completely release throttle and push it back down, maybe more than once to get it to respond.

I agree, check the throttle position sensor. If you have a VOM, disconnect the TPS then check the resistance with your VOM. The actual reading isn't as important as a smooth continuous rise and fall from idle to WOT, then back to idle position.

How do you check it, looks like mine has 5 or 6 wires attached to it

When you have more than 3 wires then you have a dual TPS device. So, it gives two throttle position signals to the engine control unit at the same time. More than likely, if the two sensors disagree then the ECU won't act upon either signal - in the name of safety.

I don't know anything about your particular TPS so I certainly can't give you specific pins or color codes of the wires for troubleshooting. That said, you can experiment with a multi-meter and figure out which are which and then compare the two variable resistor outputs. If this is foreign to you then you can take it to someone that can do it for you. Or get someone to bring a diagnostic tool to your rig. Or, as I previously mentioned, if you have a Silverleaf dash display then it can show you the throttle position that the Cummins ECU is seeing.
